I don’t know about the laws in Georgia, but the “use of deadly force laws” in Washington State would likely see me in jail, if I did and said that.
Generally speaking, you are allowed to use deadly force if a “reasonable person” feels that their life is in immediate danger, the life or safety of another, or sometimes property (but not always).
The issue hear should be if the homeowner felt his life was in immediate danger the second time he shot the burglar or if there was a castle doctrine.
If it were me, I would not have told the police he begged for the second bullet, I would have said I shot and shot again, until I felt there was no longer a threat to my life and told myself that his statement was really a threat that made me fear for my life and the life of my family.
The laws on the use of deadly force are all technicalities and have nothing to do with justice, fairness, or common sense.
