This is a perfect of example of:

“Should the government...”

“Nope”.

I can’t believe “conservative” people would support this. There’s a lot of people who should evaluate their political perspectives to see if they are really where they think they are.

After thinking more about this it is not a one or zero "should the government." For example:

Should the government accept whoever the woman names as the father (believe all women)?

Should the government designate an unverified father on a birth certificate?

Should the government hold an unverified father responsible for child support?

All these are already being done causing injustice. Mandating paternity tests at birth could be a fix for this quagmire.
