I recall at the end credits it showed a splash that said, "Coming soon! Buckaroo Banzai Against the Crime League!"
Or something similar. It never showed up.

It gave at least one reference, with “authentic” footnotes and all, to additional Buckaroo adventure novels. I searched forever for those non-existent books... That sounds exactly like Biden's Law School papers...........

That was a great movie. Off the wall; nothing else like it. You can tell the whole cast had a blast.

It should be noted that James Doohan "Mr. Scott", inspired an entire generation of engineers. And college engineering programs greatly increased in size because of it.

I don’t like her at all. Her attendance at blackface performances is very offensive.

A Space Western. It very much was. Watching it in reruns out of sequence, it was difficult to know that Grace Lee Whitney, who played Yoeman Janice Rance, was originally slated as the female lead in the show with a higher rank. She was intended to be like a space exploring Miss Kitty with an understood relationship with Kirk. Shortly in to production, producer Gene Roddenberry ditched her very crudely in favor of his girlfriend, Majel Barrett (Nurse Chapel and the voice of the ship's computer), and his mistress, Nichelle Nichols (Lt. Uhura).
The absence of a true female lead also allowed Roddenberry to abuse his authority with the casting catch. I am no feminist supporter but Roddenberry was a pig, and he hurt the longevity of the show. In retrospect, there should have been more of Grace Whitney on Star Trek. She was beautiful, elegant and classy. She deserved better than what Roddenberry did to her, and how realistic was it that Kirk kept falling in love with aliens with presumably different anatomy than a human female?

She was originally slated as the female lead on the show. She my post above. Grace Lee Whitney was a dancer. She had the legs!

And that picture reminds me of the Castithans of Defiance. Different franchise which also had a great backstory and some good actors involved but proved the same point.
The primary consumers of scifi do not want to be lectured by leftists trying to force their dystopia on others.
I absolutely could not stand Star Trek any more than any other soap opera until I had gotten older and developed the ability to ignore the messaging and just enjoy the universe and various interactions going on despite that episodes story line.
Both had great potential and both were pulled because leftists have to taint everything they touch.

Face it. Not as big a day for all of us here as Juneteenth.
But where, I ask, would FR be without “He’s dead, Jim”?
Nowhere.

If I remember correctly, after the first season the plastic scale model sold in stores was so accurate it was used in some scenes for filming the show.

I never heard that. They had a large model of the ship which they used for the show. It was hanging in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, and recently restored.
