Brazil and the United States are two countries of continental proportions, frequent UFO sightings and active communities of extraterrestrial enthusiasts. But how each has responded to the most fundamental of human questions — are we alone? — has been sharply different. In the United States, the matter of unidentified aerial phenomena has often been treated as a closely guarded government secret. Meanwhile, in Brazil and much of South America, there has been a more relaxed attitude toward the inexplicable, the public’s right to know and the limits of scientific explanation.
Now, as legislators in Washington push for the same transparency that other parts of the world have enjoyed for years, the cultural and nationalistic differences between how countries interpret the skies and what is divulged have grown even more apparent.
In South America, at least four countries — Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Peru — have public government programs that study and investigate UFO activity. Argentina and Chile regularly release reports on identifying aerial objects. And in Uruguay, which has passed UFO details along to the United States since the 1970s, the military runs the Commission for the Reception and Investigation of Complaints of Unidentified Flying Objects.

Whether a country shares that contention, researchers say, often comes down to military interests. The United States, for example, has often been less willing to publicize or publicly engage on questions about UFOs — even going so far to spread misinformation in the 1950s — for fear of ceding a strategic advantage to adversaries and jeopardizing national security.
“The U.S. has always tended toward secrecy,” said Chris Impey, an astronomer at the University of Arizona. “Only in the last year or so has there been a push for transparency, but the backdrop of that was flat-out denial or secrecy.”

Did you know that Lord Kelvin, British mathematician, mathematical physicist, said, in 1895 (while he was president of the British Royal Society--the oldest continuously existing scientific academy in the world):
"Flight by machines heavier than air is unpractical and insignificant, if not utterly impossible."Bottom line: Science is, by its very nature, an ongoing investigation and is never settled AND even the best scientists have difficulty predicting future scientific developments.
Any race of beings that is significantly more advanced than humans will have a significantly more advanced understanding of physics.
Personally I’d rather we focus on the millions of illegal aliens crossing the border than on Klingons, Jawas, or Mork from Ork.

There's nothing wrong with your opinion. You're welcome to it. But...
You get the point.
Rooster:
This is slightly off topic but if you want to see how determined the Deep State is to stomp on disclosure look at this Wikipedia article:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aztec,_New_Mexico_crashed_saucer_hoax
This “hoax” is a stunningly well documented case with artifacts almost certainly sitting in a military/industrial complex “museum” somewhere.
Excellent valid reference on this topic:
https://www.amazon.com/Aztec-UFO-Incident-Elaborate-Perplexing/dp/1632650010
The “hoax” itself was debunked in recent years—but Wikipedia stuck to the official story and ignored sources they did not like.
This is a stunning example of Deep State propaganda.
“Personally I’d rather we focus on the millions of illegal aliens crossing the border than on Klingons, Jawas, or Mork from Ork.”
But the UFO BS is their latest shiny bright object to distract us from the “real” aliens threat.
It’s classified because a large percentage of US sightings are of US military vehicles.
If they only classified 10%, that would be a huge flag signaling those were the military vehicles. So, they classify all of them hoping the military vehicles get lost in the crowd.
See comment #3, please.
Why? Because the south American governments aren’t concerned with looking impotent in the face of advanced craft. We spend so much money on defense that the MIC believes (perhaps rightly so), that if they were to admit that there are craft that we can’t compete with, or even understand, that their budgets would be cut.
Why do we need a military if it cannot protect us from (or even understand) what we are now dealing with?
After many billions of years, on planets trillions and trillions of miles separated, how useful that these so-called aliens have only within the last few years made themselves known here on earth. Why this narrow scope of time, when contrasted with billions of years of time? Why this occurrence, now? Why not before?
And, since these clever creatures are so much more intelligent than mere earthlings, why have they allowed us to “accidentally” be aware of their presence? If they are so smart, surely they could have evaded all awareness. On the other hand, if they intended us to know of them, why not just speak up? Surely they couldn’t be scared of us lower forms of life.
Seems Star Trek had a dumbing effect on some earthlings, so much so that they can’t imagine a world where Earth is truly a one of a kind place.
Expect bolder actions from superior life forms...better yet, give it a rest.
You can bet our government has clear photos of whatever these things are.
Whether you believe Dr. Nolan or not, many scientists who are investigating this matter are concluding that whatever we are dealing with, it has been on Earth a very long time. Their conclusions are that these things (whatever they are) are not new and are not coming from outer space (at least not recently).
Of course, the above are just theories.
Prof. Diana Pasulka (UNC-Wilmington) has spent years going through the Vatican Archives exploring this issue and it seems that every culture has the same experiences with these beings (such as they are), with each culture redefining their appearance in terms that fit their cultural norms (angels, demons, leprechauns, fairies, even hideous dwarves).
Well put. RIP Ashely Babbit, unarmed woman stuck in a window, providing a nice, easy target for the ‘capitol police’, who decided to kill her.
“Personally I’d rather we focus on the millions of illegal aliens crossing the border than on Klingons, Jawas, or Mork from Ork.”
So it is all about you and what you personally want others to talk or not talk about?
Who are you to regulate or referee what other individuals discuss?
Can’t talk about baseball while out fishing?
Not allowed to walk and chew gum at the same time?
Control issue much?
Did UFO's really need to come up in the presidential debate? Do we really need Congress spending more time trying to get to the "truth" about UFO's than the truth about Biden corruption?
“Others talking about UFO’s were not an issue to me until the left started using it as a distraction from real issues.”
So what you are assuming is that we are not intelligent enough to weigh and consider this possibility for ourselves? And that we need you to come intervene and save us from our own discussion?
Again... Control issue much?
