The fallout from the chaotic 2023 iteration of Burning Man continues as the local sheriff slammed attendees for leaving trash strewn across the Nevada desert in the wake of the washed-out festival.
'As usually happens in what burners refer to as the "default world" people allow their emotions to override their reasonableness and they are lashing out at each other as they leave the playa and attempt to make it to their next destination,' Pershing County Sheriff Allen told the San Francisco Chronicle.
'This behavior definitely does not fall within the 10 principles of Burning Man, but that is not the fault of BMP either, but is a societal issue.'
In addition to racial inclusion and 'radical self-expression,' the festival counts 'leaving no trace' among its core principles.
'Our community respects the environment. We are committed to leaving no physical trace of our activities wherever we gather. We clean up after ourselves and endeavor, whenever possible, to leave such places in a better state than when we found them,' the festival website reads.

'Upon the arrival of Pershing County Sheriff's Office Deputies, the doctor at the Festival had already pronounced the male subject, later identified as Leon Reece, a 32 year old male, deceased.'
He said an investigation is underway and a toxicology report being carried out. The sheriff said the abnormal weather was causing problems with trash.
'This year is a little different in that there are numerous vehicles strewn all throughout the playa for several miles,' the sheriff said.
'Some participants were unwilling to wait or use the beaten path to attempt to leave the desert and have had to abandon their vehicles and personal property wherever their vehicle came to rest.

Commonly attempted after the body has assumed room temperature. On a side note - not too many EVs in those Burning Trash Festival pics. Awfully tough gettin' a recharge way out in the desert, I guess.
I heard there were bags of trash left all along the road on the way out. Plus clothing and shoes.

I have read that every year is worse than the year before. Trash, rude people, drunkenness, debauchery, and NOT environmentally friendly.
Hypocrisy is one of the major hallmarks of the left.
The only principle I’ve heard of being practiced at Burning Man is “do whatever you can get away with.”
I have little sympathy for those new agers but, it was a weather emergency and that can trump littering...it would for me anyway.
That was my first thought: “They have principles?”
I thought “principals” were a social construct, and should be thus avoided by their type.
I had to laugh the other day-a Freeper (who had been there before) was describing “Burning Man” to those of us who hadn’t, and said something like: “Think of the scene in the movie “The Ten Commandments” where Moses comes down out of the mountain to find them half naked and dancing around with golden calves...that is “Burning Man”.”
And these people are the cultural elites. Burning Man has been inaccessible to anyone else for years now.
Why should anyone expect anything less than trash everywhere? What a filthy mess.
We’ve seen that after enviro protests....lots of trash strewn about.
Yes, and by comparison I’ve been to 4-6 Trump events and no trash left behind. Different crowd, different results.
Couldn’t be worse than The Washington Mall, after “Earth Day”.

Naked Liberals feel privileged.
Yes it is a Godless event, i want no part of.
They were in a hurry to get their asses back on “the grid” and back the nearest Starbucks. ROTFL! Idiots.
At every protest, concert or event like this the “liberals’ trash the place.
