Dear Ukrainians!
Today is a special day. The Day of Remembrance. The day of all our defenders who have perished in battles for Ukraine since 2014, since February 24. Sons, daughters. Fathers, mothers. Brothers, sisters. Friends. Colleagues. Acquaintances. Brothers-in-arms. Many Ukrainians today have someone to remember, someone to honor.
Today, many of us were thinking of our loved ones, relatives and friends who are now at war. Who are now risking their lives every day, every hour for the sake of Ukraine.
Every such day is a reminder for our entire nation. For everyone who works for the state. It is a reminder of what makes up our country. Ukrainian families whose sons and daughters perished in battles. For them, for the parents of Ukrainian heroes, the blue and yellow flag of Ukraine is now a reminder of their child, of his or her feat for the sake of the country.
A child whose father died at the front defending Ukraine... Loved ones who will never meet again because the war took away a life that became the life of Ukraine... Everything that is our state and everyone who is our state - every institution, every official - must feel what kind of Ukraine is behind them.
How much pain is in its heart. How much courage it has. What the memory of people who are no longer alive is. What is now in its symbols. And how differently people now perceive everything that humiliates Ukraine, its strength and hopes.
It is a duty to be worthy of the path Ukraine is on. To give Ukraine more strength. More opportunities. It is a duty. To care about everyone around you. To support them. To take care of people. And always bring the result closer. The main result for Ukraine. Ukraine must prevail. This is the main thing for everyone. So that we do not have to look away from the photos of the warriors on the Wall of Remembrance and other memorials.
I thank everyone who works for Ukraine, who fights for Ukraine in this way: with dignity, courage, and strength.
Glory to all our warriors! Glory to our people, the people of Ukraine!

Ukraine’s ingenious battle strategies on the frontlines of Zaporizhia continue to frustrate Russian troops.
Kiev has focused its latest offensive on the front lines between Robotyne and Tokmak.
There were also fierce clashes in the Mala Tokmachka area.
The fiercest center of clashes today was the village of Verbove, 9 km east of Robotyne and 20 km from Tokmak.
The Ukrainians entered the settlement today and launched a heavy artillery attack. The Russian troops could no longer hold out under this heavy pressure and withdrew from the settlement of Verbove, located southeast of Mala Tokmachka.
The bunkers, trenches and command centers of the Russian troops there were destroyed by Ukrainian forces. Soldiers of the 417th separate reconnaissance battalion of the Russian army, located near the settlement, suffered heavy losses while fleeing Verbove.
With the Russians leaving the village, the Ukrainian Armed Forces had a serious opportunity to expand the left offensive flank of Verbove. Therefore, Ukrainian troops laid a complete encirclement of the settlement both from the direction of Mala Tokmachka and from the direction of Robotyne. This siege caused the Russians to completely abandon the settlement, while Kiev continued its offensive plan for Tokmak and then Melitopol.
The settlement of Tokmak is seen as the next front line for the Ukrainians to liberate. It was near this town that the Ukrainians last destroyed a large number of military ammunition depots and equipment belonging to the Russians.
Precisely in Tavriia settlement, northwest of Tokmak, Ukrainian forces destroyed 19 pieces of military equipment and 5 ammunition depots belonging to the Russian occupiers.
This equipment included four tanks, six armored fighting vehicles, eight artillery systems and mortars, one MLRS.
The ammunition depots destroyed by Ukrainian forces in this settlement reportedly contained much more military equipment.
In other words, Ukrainian forces carried out a pinpoint attack in the Tavriia settlement. This critical news was reported directly by the commander of the Tavriia operational-strategic group of troops, General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi. Oleksandr Tarnavskyi also added that 1,283 firing missions were carried out in this settlement.
Russia had lost a total of 309 soldiers here in the last few days. It is thought that the losses of the Russian army in this settlement will increase much more rapidly as Ukrainian forces continue their offensive activities.
As we can understand from these attacks, settlements such as Tokmak and Tavriia have turned into a complete hell for the Russians at the moment. Ukrainian forces are next expected to completely seize the initiative in Melitopol.
Today, however, Kiev made a surprise breakthrough in the execution of its offensive plan and turned the agenda upside down by sharing stunning news from the southern coastal regions of Ukraine. For the first time, Ukrainian troops managed to break through the most difficult lines of Russian troops in Berdyansk on the southern front line.
Even Moscow did not expect such an attempt. As soon as Ukrainian troops entered Berdyansk, a huge fire broke out at Russian military installations in the city. The cause of the fire was not specified, but Russian sources said that the Ukrainians had breached the defense line in Berdyansk. From this perspective, we can assume that the Ukrainians attacked the Russian military facility in Berdyansk.
Currently, Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov has confirmed the information about the fire at the Russian-controlled military facility in Berdyansk. Ivan Fedorov also noted that the locals did not hear the sounds of explosions, but that the Russians had taken their weapons to the occupied workshops of the plant the previous day. After Federov’s statements, very remarkable photos of this huge fire in Berdyansk were published on social media.
In these photos, it could be seen that there was huge smoke over the area where the Russian military facilities were located. It was also clear from the photos that a large number of fire brigades were extinguishing the fire.
Residents of the region were seriously concerned after this critical attack. The Russian authorities claimed that the fire in Berdyansk was caused by the ignition of waste in order to appease the supporters of the occupation in the city and to divert other residents.

On 29 August, the Russian-controlled Supreme Court of Crimea upheld the verdict in the case of Appaz Kurtamet, a Crimean Tatar who was accused of donating to members of Ukrainian volunteer battalions.

During its consideration of the appeal, the panel of judges of the Supreme Court of Crimea recognised one of the pieces of evidence taken into account when the case was heard in the court of first instance as inadmissible. However, it saw no reason to overturn the verdict or revise the sentence.
BACKGROUND:
Kurtamet was detained by Russian security forces at the administrative border with temporarily occupied Crimea, where he was heading to visit relatives, on 23 July 2022. All contact with him was lost that same day, and his whereabouts remained unknown until 8 October. The Russian occupiers began his show trial at the end of February this year.
In April 2023, the Russian-controlled Kyiv District Court of Simferopol sentenced Kurtamet to up to 7 years’ imprisonment for allegedly transferring 500 hryvnias (about US$14) to the Crimea volunteer battalion.
According to the investigators, he transferred the funds to a representative of the battalion. Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets says the young man lent this money to a friend who was actually well-off at the time.

Day 552: Aug 29
Today, there is a lot of news.
Several hours ago, Ukrainians conducted one of the biggest strikes on strategic bases deep inside the Russian Federation, and judging by the reports, it has already become the most successful Ukrainian strike. The first target of the strike became the base of the Russian 334th regiment, which is near the main airfield in the Pskov region, 700 km from Ukraine. In total, Ukrainians conducted 3 waves of attacks.
The FIRST wave consisted of only 2 drones, which the Russian air defense shot down near the airfield. Ukrainians understood that the chosen trajectory was perfect, as the drones successfully crossed 700 km without being detected, so Ukrainians immediately launched the second wave.
The SECOND wave consisted of at least 10 drones. Local residents reported that the drones were flying in one line, with equal distance between each other. Locals also reported hearing several explosions far from the base, which indicates that the Russian air defense managed to intercept several drones, but it was not enough, and the drones finally reached the airfield. Geolocated footage shows how Russians are resorting to machine guns in their last attempt to protect the airfield, but it did not help much.
As a result, there was a huge explosion, and the fire broke out on the territory of the airfield. Russian sources reported that 2 strategic airlifters IL-76 were damaged, and the main fuel depot was destroyed. Some Ukrainian sources reported that the explosion was actually from an ammunition depot, the fire was from the fuel depot, and that more aircraft were damaged.
Russian analysts started blaming the people who filmed the air defense work and posted footage of how close the drones got. They also asked people not to post the footage from the second wave, especially the areas that Ukrainians successfully hit, but it was already too late.
Ukrainian forces launched the THIRD wave of drones and adjusted the trajectory to hit new areas. Soon, explosions were heard and recorded on the base, and Russian sources reported that 2 more strategic airlifters IL-76 were destroyed. The locals reported that there were at least 10 more explosions on the territory of the airfield, which means that the level of destruction and losses are likely much higher.
When the third wave ended, Russians started to panic and introduced Edelweiss Plan in the whole region. Russian forces surrounded the airfield, restricting access even nearby, while others started organizing an urgent evacuation of those strategic airlifters IL-76 that were left. By the way, IL-76 played a key role in slowing down the Ukrainian counteroffensive in the Kharkiv region last year.
These strategic airlifters are designed to deliver heavy machinery, so Russians used them to deliver tanks and armored fighting vehicles non-stop, which allowed them to save the situation around Svatove and Kreminna. So, the destruction of these aircraft will not allow Russians to repeat the same in the future.
Simultaneously, Ukrainians struck another base in the Pskov region. This time, the target became the base of the 104th airborne regiment, which was one of the main forces during the first stage of the invasion. After the Ukrainians were done with the Pskov region, Ukrainians also launched an attack on the Bryansk region.
Russian sources reported that Ukrainians launched two drones and that these drones were successfully intercepted. Unfortunately for Russians, it was once again the FIRST wave of attacks. Later, local residents filmed how several drones exploded somewhere in the vicinity of the oil depot Druzhba. Judging by the available at the moment footage, there were at least two successful hits.
But this was not the end. The FOURTH target of the Ukrainian strike became Russian military objects in the Tula region. Russian sources once again reported that there were 2 drones that the air defense successfully shot down, while the locals published footage of the explosions somewhere outside the town, where Russian military bases are located.
Overall, Ukrainians conducted a large-scale strike on the Russian bases from Pskov to Crimea and were successful in every single case. This is the result of weeks of trial launches for creating a precise map of the Russian air defense systems.

“Everyone is lying”: US doctor describes shocking corruption
Samantha Morris*, a doctor from Maine, went to Ukraine in May to try to help provide medical training for soldiers. “The first time I crossed the border from Poland, I had to hide my medical supplies under mattresses and diapers to prevent them from being stolen,” she said. “The border guards on the Ukrainian side will just take things, and tell you, ‘we need this for our war,’ but then, they just steal the items and resell them. Honestly, if you don’t hand-deliver donations to the intended recipients, the items will never reach them.”
Morris and a few other American medical professionals began to hold training courses in Sumy, a mid-sized city in northeastern Ukraine. “We drew up a contract with the governor in Sumy, though all they provided to us were meals and lodging, and the lodging was just us sleeping in the same public university we held our training courses in,” she said. “The Sumy governor had a friend, a local businessman, and he demanded that this businessman be added to the contract as a ‘liaison’ between us and the city of Sumy. And as a liaison, he would get a percentage fee of the contract. Our lawyers tried to negotiate the businessman out of the contract, but the governor of Sumy wouldn’t budge. We ultimately just signed the contract so we could hold our trainings.”
In the two months she spent in Ukraine, Morris says she encountered theft and corruption more times than she could count. “The lead doctor at the military base in Sumy has ordered medical supplies from and for the military at different points in time, and he has had 15 trucks of supplies completely disappear,” she said. The military first aid kits she had intended to give to soldiers once they graduated her training program were stolen. She saw the same kits for sale at a local market days later.
Praise God for these victories! Hopefully the end of this stupid war is at hand and the killing and dying on both sides can end.
Tokmak is under attack now...it might be just a week or two and it will be Ukrainian again.
