No links, not sudden research, just what you know right now.By what means did you learn about the Van Allen Belts?
Did the knowledge come to you in a dream? Spiritual Vision? Osmosis?
Or, did you perform research from an outside source?

Jan presents herself has an expert on the Van Allen radiation belts, but appears to know nothing about them.
I suggest, sir, that you remain a spectator to this particular conversation.

By what means did you learn about the Van Allen Belts?Probably from Irwin Allen's movie "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" and I believe they were also mentioned in "Lost in Space".

Van Allen belts? I think he may have watched “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea” once.
Seriously, there is a giant metal mesh satellite dish that a ham radio operator constructed behind his house here in my town. He built it in the mid/late 60’s so he could point it at the moon and pick up the radio conversations. He did pick them up. So, if we didn’t go, I wonder who he was listening to?

Or, did you perform research from an outside source? No, his knowledge appears to have come from the movie "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea." You can watch the trailer here.

I cant speak for NorthMountain, but as for myself, I have a masters and engineers degree is Astronautics and Aeronautics. I studied space environment (which includes the Van Allen Belt physics) in graduate school. I had experiments fly on space shuttle missions where theoretical effects of the belts on charged particles from an ion emitter were verified by experiment. I have studied the belt radiation effects and accumulated dosage on solar arrays, electronics, and shielding. The belts trap highly charged particles and spending lots of time in them can cause radiation effects, but passing through them to get to the moon or mars or anywhere else is not fatal, and can be mitigated by shielding.
Ignorant people who are here to disparage those who are educated in these matters are no better than the ignorant people who disavow the great history of our nation. You might as well be a zombie.
