Yeah, almost every apple product I’ve owned, and I’ve had alot, ended up having the charging port fail. I kept with them because I like the product features.
Was it the connector from the charger that failed or the actual port in the device?
I’ve had several Lightning charger connectors fail — the cable tends to fatigue near the base of the connector. But so far no failures of the ports on the devices themselves.
IMO the Lightning connector is superior to the old mini and micro USB-B connectors thanks to being non-directional. You don’t have to fiddle with it to get it to line up with the port. But the new USB-C connector is non-directional so that advantage goes away.
Interesting - I’ve only had one iPhone in my family that had the charging port (Lightning) fail - and it was heavily abused by my younger daughter.
