Aug 14 (Reuters) - Hollywood's favorite parlor game of the week: What will Bob Iger do next?
From Culver City to New York City, the U.S. media and entertainment industry's powerbrokers are spinning scenarios about the future and the possible breakup of the industry's most powerful conglomerate.
Walt Disney (DIS.N) chief executive Iger, who returned to the company in November for a second stint, triggered the vigorous industry chatter in mid-July when he suggested during a CNBC interview that the company's television businesses, including its stations and cable channels, "may not be core to Disney."

RIP Walt.
Quality entertainnment for the whole family meant to last for generations is no longer “core to Disney” either. They should expand their pedo operatyions and start selling “Child’s Groom-O-Matic” at the local TarGay.
Oops, that’s “operations”. I made a Biden-mistake.
So glad I visited Disneyland in the 60s as a kid. It truly was one of the happiest places on Earth.
That’s a hideous thing to suggest……..where’s your verification.
We used to visit Disneyland a lot prior to the mid-2000s. We always had a good time. Then, around 2005 or so, we noticed that Disneyland became a place for locals to have their kids baby-sat while they worked elsewhere. Without the parents around, these kids/teens were out of control. We haven’t been since, and our kid has no plans to return there when they have kids.
Pretty sure he wasn’t looking for the see eye ‘aye to take over his building plans. Disney & Stouffer had a dream that got badly derailed.
Good chance of it. If JFK was alive today, he would be a Democratic Socialist.
The times change. So of course, we have to adapt.
“Disney & Stouffer had a dream that got badly derailed.”
If there is something wrong with Stouffer frozen meals, please let me know.
This guy's just a bit older than me and can't figure out what's core to Disney?
I remember watching The Wonderful World of Disney & the Mouseketeers of old as a child. Couldn't wait for them to come on. There's your core Bob. Same as what you probably watched as well. (Had to get Annette in there. My fav. ;O))
Annette Funicello
If Ben Schapiro launches a takeover bid and looks for crowdfunding, I’m in for $10.
Disney needs to be fumigated from top to bottom. My only reservation about Disney being sold, however, is that a healthy ecosystem in the tv/movie space needs more, not fewer, studios and distribution platforms. Independent studios that enjoy enough success to grow automatically become takeover targets. Sooner or later, the founders will be ready to cash out and retire, and when that time comes, no one else can hope to match the deep pockets of the Borg.
The streamers overexpanded. In the process, they bought out most of the legacy studios, largely to gain control of their vast libraries of older movies and shows. We now have a handful of giant corporations, all hopelessly woke and all with aspirations of being the cinematic WalMart to the world, dominating everything from project development to production to distribution.
Now the streaming bubble has burst and consolidation is the order of the day. We are heading towards a system in which three giants are the gatekeepers.
Maybe the should sell Disney to the porn industry where it belongs
I think it was just speculation and thus does not require verification. I’m a long enough lurker on this site to recall better times with polite thoughtful informed exchanges of ideas and theories. The lack of polite back and forth I believe has led to a great slowdown in donations.
“The three businesses that will drive the greatest growth over the next five years, he said, are the company’s film studios, theme parks and streaming video.”
aren’t those the very three that are crashing and burning?
I doubt it.
Here’s very smart video review of new Snow White:

Not that I’m aware. Disney and Stouffer had a business deal with the Stouffer Plaza at the entrance. Women were supposed to have role models that showed they could be “princesses” who could hold their own in STEM and society. It was supposed to be empowering to women and the family, not destructive of it. There were “The Stouffer Girls” in the kitchen instead of male chefs, and the “Stouffer” girls from the family that were supposed to be exemplary and a face for marketing. Stouffer’s frozen meals are the only ones I eat.
Some of Walt’s earlier films are a bit suspect. Odd spirituality.
