My story of what happened:
The Strange Maui Fires.....
This was not just a random act of mother nature. It reminded me of the strange fires in Paradise, California a few years back which swept through and wiped it off the map. Their only crime was getting in the way of a high speed railway project slated to come through the town.
A little bit of history to draw your own conclusions: Historic Lahaina is the key harbor seaport on the island. The Lanai Ferry goes back and forth from there, all the commercial snorkeling and scuba diving firms set sail from there and tourists flock there in daily droves.
The problem with Historic Lahaina was that it had a large old Hawaiian community that was in the way of the developers. Now it’s like ground zero, declared a disaster area, and federal and states rules are probably going to be tossed aside. It’s a toxic mess. They will undoubtedly blame it all on climate change and welcome in the developers to totally bull doze and level it.
All over the island tracts of land are being bought up by corporations and no one knows who is behind them. Foreign interests? The people on this island are beginning to put the pieces of the puzzle together and suspect this was a major power land grab.
In January 2023 there was a Smart City Conference where they discussed turning Maui into a 15-minute “smart island”. Next month there is a Digital Summit to discuss turning the island digital and all AI. I kid you not.

So, let’s stipulate the fire was started by neglect and incompetence. What was shutting off the water?
You are not supposed to ask those questions, as it will ruin the conspiracy! 🙄
Come on, man. Someone planted an explosive device on the pole to make it LOOK like a natural event. 🙄
The Marshall fire in Colorado was was similar. There are fires that wiped out hundreds of thousand acres of forest in Colorado also. Fires in California are used to launder monies into state and private accounts. I suppose 10%. goes to the big guy.
AGREED-—
IS there ANYONE under the age or 40 today that can read a map or remember GEOGRAPHY???
Paradise is N E of San Fran—which is the northern terminus of the “Hi Speed Rail”. A decent distance north east.
NOBODY IN BUTTE COUNTY IS AWARE, EITHER.
EASY ENOUGH to GOOGLE MAP for Paradise.
Such an education !!!!!!

I think she’s confused about which opening she shot out of.
Even a nut case can find a real conspiracy every now and then. It was topical with what was going on. Didn’t guarantee veracity. Pointed out at my #1 that she might be a flake, and gave her substance a fair chance, flaky weird stuff notwithstanding.
I lived on Maui for 22 years, worked in the Upper West Side for 7, 2 in Lahaina Center. I spent a lot of time in Town and had many friends there. Though I'm now 10 years removed my heart sinks with each picture and story, with my biggest fear is that I'm gonna read somebody's name I know.
I'm getting really sick and tired - pissed - at all the conspiracy bullsh!t and climate change crap placing blame where it is not. As an electrical contractor I'm familiar with the old and rusted condition of the grid. I also know that brush fires are not uncommon and with cane operations gone there is a lot of dried grass. Lahaina is leeward and gets prolly less than 10’ of rain/year and 60+mph winds are very rare. For sure there is some blame to toss around, but in reality this was a tragic combination of all the wrong things.
No. If you listen to the DEW conspiracy theorists you will learn that the fires destroyed cars and buildings, yet left the trees pretty and green. Unharmed.
Sounds a bit like Free Republic’s resident Forrest Gump.

of course! 100 year old iron is as good as new in a salt air environment.

South maui
Came very close
to burning up too
In n kihei at the end
Of the street here I live
The brush fire was less
Than a 100 ft from homes
The night of the Lahaina fire
More of the same
I had a friend who’s house was burned to the foundation but the bushes and trees in the yard looked untouched—this was in Paradise. Upon closer inspection all those trees needed removal because they were badly damaged by fire—just not burned to a crisp. It was strange to see but for the same reasons one house would burn and the one next door did not.
