During a working trip to the Zaporizhzhia Oblast, the President of Ukraine V. Zelenskyy visited forwarded command post of the 10th Army Corps. He was briefed by the corps commander Serhiy Perets about the situation in the direction of Melitopol, where the corps is deployed.

Brig. Gen. Serhiy Perets is a former commander of Ukrainian 56th Motorized Brigade (2016 – 2018) and deputy commander of Joint Forces Operation. He now commands the 10th Army Corps.

During the visit, he also met with Ukrainian soldiers. Official photos later revealed, at least partly, the composition of 10th Army Corps. The following units were present during the Zelenskyy visit of the corps forwarded command post:

• Skala Battalion
• 46th Airmobile Brigade
• 116th Mechanized Brigade
• 117th Mechanized Brigade
• 118th Mechanized Brigade

Ukrainian President Zelensky also visited positions of 3rd Brigade Spartan, 15th Brigade Kara-Dag of Ukrainian National Guard and 47th Mechanized Brigade, 65th Mechanized Brigade deployed in the area, but these weren’t present at the ceremony and are likely not under the corps command.

This week we are witnessing an increase in Ukrainian offensive operations on the Donetsk front line, starting from Bakhmut to Vuhledar.

Beyond Zaporizhia and this region, we can see that the Ukrainians have set up an unbelievable network of attacks, mainly on the coastal settlements, as far as Kherson and Dnipro.
Especially the coastline settlements of Ukraine became seriously active after the clashes in Zaporizhia. One of the most important examples of these coastal settlements is Mariupol. This city has been under Russian occupation for a long time. But the actions of Ukrainian forces and partisan groups supporting Kiev in recent days have shown us that things can change in Mariupol.

Here is the latest situation in the city and the most up-to-date developments from the Ukrainian front line. Recently, Ukrainian troops carried out an incredible offensive operation in Mariupol. Ukrainian troops carried out a powerful attack on the Russian command post in the village of Yurivka in the Mariupol region. Petro Andryushchenko, adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, noted that as a result of the attack, dozens of Russian soldiers were injured and none of the civilians were harmed. Andryushchenko stated that 50 wounded Russian soldiers were taken to Mariupol. In total, more than 150 Russian soldiers were reported to have been seriously injured in this attack. The command post from which the Russians were attacked in Mariupol was located precisely in the Sanatorium Khvilya. Already just one day before these critical attacks in Mariupol, Ukrainian partisans targeted a Russian military facility. Ukrainian guerrillas infiltrated the Great Russian military facility in Mariupol by sneaking past the Russian defenses.

As a result, they had a fun night with fireworks in Mariupol. As a result of these critical attacks by Ukrainian partisans, the Russian army lost hundreds of soldiers and at least three battleships. As a result of the attacks on the Russian Headquarters and the Russian military facility in Mariupol, the Russian army lost at least 250 soldiers and dozens of military vehicles. Of course, the Russian losses were great, but what really worried the Russians was the breaches in the defense and the inability to prevent the guerrilla attacks. The Ukrainians had struck a great fear into the hearts of the Russians in Mariupol. After this critical attack, the Russian Guards were driven into the city and many agents from the FSB went after the Ukrainian partisans in Mariupol.

But attacks by Ukrainian troops or partisan groups were not the only problem for the Russians in Mariupol.

Because there was a critical clash between Kadyrov’s soldiers and Russian troops in Urzuf, near Mariupol. At least 2 Russian soldiers were destroyed during this clash. But most importantly, this conflict situation between the Russian army and Kadyrov forces showed how rotten foundations Moscow ‘s invasion plans in the south of Ukraine were. Contrary to this conflict between the Russian and Kadyrov soldiers, the Ukrainian side continued to take incredible steps in the southern front lines.

Berdyansk and the Zaporizhia Region, southwest of Mariupol, were shaken by Kiev’s historic offensive actions. In line with Kiev ‘s offensive plan, Ukrainian forces consolidated their gains around the devastated village of Staromaiorske, which they recaptured, in one of the two main lines of attack targeting the Berdiansk coastal port. According to Ukrainian military analysts, Kiev’s troops had plunged the Russians into a period of collapse in the Russian stronghold of Urozhaine. According to this view, if the Ukrainians were able to pass through or around the Urozhaine, that would put them 50 miles from the two major seaports of Berdiansk and Mariupol on the Azov Sea. And with every mile they advance, the Ukrainians will have a chance to put more pressure on the Russian supply lines.

Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar, in her latest statement on this issue, announced that her country’s forces achieved partial successes in the south and southeast of Urozhaine and Staromaiorske. On the other hand, the Russian Vostok Battalion, a military unit fighting in the region, reported that the artillery from both sides had affected the Urozhaine neighborhood so much that they left some positions for this reason. In other words, the general situation in the Velyka Novosilka region of Zaporizhia was still developing in the direction of Ukraine. On the other hand, along the offensive line in the direction of Melitopol, Ukrainian forces reported tough battles.

The U.S. intelligence community assesses that Ukraine’s counteroffensive will fail to reach the key southeastern city of Melitopol, people familiar with the classified forecast told The Washington Post, a finding that, should it prove correct, would mean Kyiv won’t fulfill its principal objective of severing Russia’s land bridge to Crimea in this year’s push.

The grim assessment is based on Russia’s brutal proficiency in defending occupied territory through a phalanx of minefields and trenches, and is likely to prompt finger pointing inside Kyiv and Western capitals about why a counteroffensive that saw tens of billions of dollars of Western weapons and military equipment fell short of its goals.
Ukraine’s forces, which are pushing toward Melitopol from the town of Robotyne more than 50 miles away, will remain several miles outside of the city, U.S. officials said.
