Calling all Buc-ee's fanatics! Boy, do we have the dream job for you.

If you frequent the Texas staple, and love their snacks, why not get paid to review them?

FinanceBuzz is looking for the "ultimate road-trip warrior" to taste and rate iconic snacks from Buc-ee’s. They'll be picking one "Buc-ee's Bud-ee," who will be tasked with taste testing 25 of their popular foods. The selected Buc-ee's Bud-ee will be paid $1,000 for their efforts, plus $250 to cover the cost of snacks and merch.

To be eligible, you must live near (or be willing to travel to) a Buc-ee’s location, and be willing to try almost any snack they offer. Some of the items they’ll have you sample include:

Buc-ee’s Beaver Nuggets Sweet and savory kolaches Hippo tacos Barbecue sandwiches Buc-ee’s Lemon Crisps Homemade fudge Buc-ee’s Gummi Bears Banana pudding Biscuits and gravy

Since moving to TX, I’ve driven by one of these places a few times. Keep meaning to go in and check it out, but the crowds look huge.

There used to be a blogger, now deceased, who called himself The Evil Sam Graham, who traveled around the country and wrote of his experiences with fast food and roadside food offerings. He would have been perfect for this. I wouldn’t mind it myself, except I am nowhere near one of these places.

Buc-ees big Overbites with Dark Chocolate are to die for. Picture a hockey puck sized Reese’ Cup but covered in Dark Chocolate. They also have Milk Chocolate but the dark is awesome. $5 bucks each and you can only eat half, well your supposed to eat half.

The problem with Buc-ee’s is they don’t have enough jerky snacks.

“the crowds look huge”

My wife and I went to the new one 5 miles down the highway from where we live on a weekday at around lunchtime.......I walked out a nervous wreck.

The problem with Buc-ees are the crowds. Everywhere they open a new store it shuts down the highways for hours the first few weeks. They have 2 new stores coming pretty soon, Off I-65 near Bowling Green, Ky. about an hour north of Nashville, and a just announced new store in Huber Heights, Ohio about 20 or so minutes north of Dayton, Ohio off I-75.

I’ve been to the Buc-ee’s in Daytona. It was cool, but it’s a tourist trap, not a convenience store - like Wawa or Sheetz. Nothing convenient about it actually.

I love Wegman’s, but I would never want one to replace my little Publix by the beach where I can go buy half and half and be back in 10 minutes.

It would take me 10 minutes from parking lot to store at a Wegmans.

I have been in one because the wife wanted to buy a UGA sweatshirt, which they had in stock. I did not walk back look at the Wall Of Jerky, a church member said it was about 12ft high.

I would say it reminds me of a giant Stuckey’s, but some of the food is legit. The wife went back on her own and bought a pound of bbq brisket which was ok. Not the best by any means, but better than you’d expect from what is basically an oversized convenience store.

For where a Bucees gets planted, the food and the truckstop not for trucks is good. The BBQ is not as good as the joints already highlighted by myself over the past 20 years. The deli is passable, but would rather have jimmy johns. Much speeder than WAWA on a 3 day weekend.

The newest generation in OH and KY with 100 gas pumps, widely spaced are nice if your driving an RV with a trailer. I expect the new ones are getting overbuilt for EVs on road trips and that customer has more time to burn than me who expects 8 gallons per minute of 87 octane at the lowest price in the zipcode. I have not seen a partnership with tesla announcement, but they should have.

The merch for the brand is fun and match amazon on about things like travel mugs and such. Last I heard you cannot park your 18 wheeler on the street and pick up BBQ if you wanted to. They may or may not give the bigger toy haulers a hard time.

If the I-80 world largest (Walcott, Iowa) is a 8, the new bucces are low sevens. The world largest use to be 10 but shows it age and is dated on the services it offers.

If a few would pop up on I-80 and I-90 the Wall Drugs, the Mormons and Worlds Largest would have to make some investments in staying ahead of the game and attract the Tesla people waiting to hit 80%. I am a sucker for dinosaur sculptures, dirt roads and western monuments and as I travel with the dogs more often on road trips am finding it better just to string state parks and gas buddy best in the state stops together and skip the I-xx routes. It might take 6 hours longer for a 2 day trip, but the journey is what I take the enjoyment from.
