I must say, for someone shot, "Multiple times" the suspect seen in court here, standing on his own, looks completely uninjured.

A female Connecticut police officer was ferociously attacked by a hammer-wielding man, police said.
The Middletown Police Department said that on Saturday, August 12 at 6:33 p.m., authorities received a complaint about noise and breaking glass on a residential street.
Detective Karli Travis, who runs the Middletown Police Cadet Program and serves in the patrol division, was the first officer who responded to the call.
She approached the resident on foot and police said that she immediately noticed that the suspect, 52-year-old Winston Tate, was wielding a blunt object.
In a press conference on Tuesday, August 15, Chief Eric McCallister of the Middletown Police Department said that Travis calmly asked Tate to drop the object, a metal hammer, to the ground.

Why did she fail to protect herself, i.e. shoot the perp?!
Women can be successful and accomplished in many professions; being a front-line cop is not one of them.
She shot him, but was slow/late on the draw. Let him get way too close. I guess she was out the day they taught about the Tueller Drill.

Police Officers and Soldiers should be fit men only.
You’re not supposed to allow an armed suspect to get close enough to you to kill or assault you.
Why are they putting these weaker, slower women in patrol positions?

The article never said the suspect had been shot. In fact, the article clearly shows the suspecting standing in court on his own two feet. No bandages, no wheelchair, zip...
He was shot multiple times, but he is big, and police issue firearms seem to be optimized for dainty recoil, not results.

I’m in the South. I’ve known several men over the years who would have been so embarrassed to be arrested by a woman they’d have been “forced” to prevent it. Certainly, with violence as that would be the only way. I guess you could call it toxic masculinity, or just being stupid and violent. The thing is, in many instances, in order to do her job, the cop requires that the perp be polite. What are the odds? I’d like to see some real statistics on how many injuries women vs. male cops get normalized in hours on the front line. Also, are the females being assigned to easier beats? One would think so but that means the males, whose numbers are reduced by the number of female coworkers, are being assigned a disproportionate number of dangerous jobs. It’s not fair to the rest of the cops if women are in roles that they can’t really do. (This includes fire fighters.)
A friend was the only male teacher in a school with a disproportionate number of black boy students. Because he was a male, they gave him all of the more dangerous students. These were fifth graders. Eventually, he retired early because the extra load of dealing with the more dangerous students was physically and emotionally draining. In essence they forced him into retirement because female teachers weren’t up to the role. It’s the same with cops.

This guy isn’t actually really that fat, he is just big. Look at the size of him compared to the police officers.

Yep. We had a situation where 2 cops pull a black guy over because his tag flagged as a stolen vehicle. The stop is on video. The two white cops bent over backwards for the guy saying they understood blah blah blah. They then found he had an active arrest warrant out and when they tried to arrest him
Then he takes off running with both cops chasing. The guy runs around a building back to his car and drives off. A week later the same guy shot 2 police officers who I think are still in the hospital. The perp, Daton Viel was killed in a shootout a few hours later. The first incident is on video here:
