Sage Steele, the veteran ESPN sportscaster who became better known in recent years for her stances on hot topics like coronavirus vaccinations, has left the Disney sports giant.
Steele, who joined ESPN in 2007, said on social media that she had recently settled a lawsuit with her employer after she was suspended in 2021 for comments she made on an outside podcast about getting vaccinated, how women dress and former President Barack Obama’s lineage.
“Having successfully settled my case with ESPN/Disney, I have decided to leave so I can exercise my first amendment rights more freely,” Steele said. “I am grateful for so many wonderful experiences over the past 16 years and am excited for my next chapter!” Steele had alleged in a 2022 lawsuit that Disney and ESPN retaliated against her for the comments she made during the podcast, hosted by Jay Cutler, taking away high-profile assignments. She charged the companies had breached her contract and violated her free-speech rights.

A beautiful woman. I would turn over to ESPN in the afternoon just to see her. Guess those days are over. She should go to Outkick or maybe Fox could hire her to do conservative views/ sports type of commentary. She would fit well on any number of their shows like “Outnumbered” or “The Five”. Basically run out of ESPN because she criticized Obama and the vaccine. When she said Obama was basically raised by a white mother and white grandparents with his black father nowhere to be found, she was done at ESPN.

ESPN has lost viewership and despite many layoffs has not been restored to the money making machine it once was. However would not count them out. Disney is trying to turn ESPN into a on air/ on line hybrid sports gambling casino. A large percentage of sports fans,often to the detriment to themselves and their families, are gamblers. Disney and ESPN which long ago embraced woke hedonism and decadence for all their worth, just might create a very profitable model to capitalize on the bad habits and addictions sorry folks.

And they don’t get it. ESPN doesn’t get that its viewership is down and Disney doesn’t get that attendance at its parks is down because of its embrace of the Woke agenda.
Allison Williams was canned from espn for not taking the vax when she was pregnant. I think she sued them too. Not sure what happened.

Oh, they get it. They just don’t care. They’ll let the whole company go bankrupt before they abandon “the cause”.
I suspect that the fact I live in a very rural area.....they realized that they couldn't replace me easily.
Never missed a day of work....and I was neck deep in COVID patients.
Too bad this only works for the protected class.
I considered it but knew I had a high probability of loosing.
