I kind of liked his “Jumpin’ Jive” album. Still have a cassette of it around somewhere.

YIKES! Two years younger than I am, and looks TEN years older.

Don't you know that it's different for girls?
(I read that in the Sunday papers)

I think he looks pretty good for being my age. A lot of musicians my age are... dead.

I like a lot of that era’s music. Too bad my wife doesn’t. Oh well, plenty of YouTube videos out there of practically any musician you can think of.

He still puts on a great show. Unlike most people our age he’s not content to play his old hits as if he was a karaoke machine. He changes up the tempo. Changes the arrangement. Plays his music as if he still really *means* it. As opposed to a lot of ‘70s and ‘80s artists I’ve seen whose shows now could be replaced by lip-syncing to their old tape tracks, and no one would notice.

He did some good Steely Dan covers, and normally I cringe at thought of anyone covering Steely Dan.

But every cover band I was ever in, no song ever got every half-drunk guy in the house singing along like, “Is she really going out with him?”

Saw him in 1982 and again last year. Forty years apart and he put on a great show both times.
