Over the centuries, Russia has also fought Poland, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden (Great Northern War of 1700-21), Japan (WW 2 and the Russo-Japanese War of 1905), Hungary (1848 revolution), and the Ottoman Empire (Crimean War).
I'm sure I've left out several countries. But empires tend to fight a lot of wars.
