For your consideration. Five Million Years to Earth

The 1967 version was a remake of the original Quatermass and The Pit from 1953. If you're not desensitized by modern bombastic film making, it's a frightening film. Listen carefully, you'll hear it's a warning from the nascent world of the arts. 5 million years ago the primates were modified by the dying Martian race of arthropods. They evolved from that modification. And that hive mind lurks in us all and periodically, because that's their way, they purge all who do not respond to the power. Anyone who would not be affected by the perfection of the modification would be destroyed. And all it took to stop it was one man who was willing to stand up, face the devil and be damned.

Enjoy

Just watched the “Quatermass And The Pit” serial. The alien ritual killing and being killed memory reminds me of the dream sequences from “Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.”

These stories share a similar idea that violence and murder are impulses foreign to the human species, that they come from non terrestrial entities which are stuck replaying their historical destruction on other planets in a loop over and over and visit these urges here on our planet in us through a form of possession.
