Blocking traffic, attacking the mailman, even chasing little kids headed to the park -- a flock of turkeys is getting a bad rap in a city neighborhood. KDKA-TV's Meghan Schiller has more from the neighborhood.

Rabbits WERE scarce in south central NH until last year. They had a bunch over in Rye, NH(on the ocean). They transplanted some of those over in our area a couple years ago. Now, they have exploded in population. We have at least two lively in the the brush behind our house. They come out in the mornings and early evening to eat the clover on my lawn.

The worst part of that is my Chihauhaus love to EAT rabbit poop. They are POOP eaters.

I guess eventually the bobcats and coyotes will grow in population with all the rabbits now around to eat.

Bunch of turkeys standing around on the corner in their black leather jackets smoking and carrying switchblades and trying to harmonize.

I had a small flock on my property a couple days ago in the morning. Only five birds.
The biggest flock I have ever had was around 10 birds.

There is a rich lady about a mile away that feeds the turkeys in the winter. We call it the turkey farm. I have walked/driven by there and seen over a hundred birds all hanging out there on a winter day.

My parents live next to a forest preserve. I’ve seen a few big flocks of wild turkeys over the years. Usually they take off when disturbed by humans. Earlier this year I saw 2 Toms duking it out for a considerable amount of time. They eventually were fighting on the neighbors ground floor patio

It’s not hunting when it’s self-defense.

Nor is a full grown hungry man with a shotgun .

Nah. .22LR to the eye. Saves teeth.

Seriously, in the ‘50s we had Turkey Shoots as fund raisers for the V.F.D. and Lions Clubs. They’d truss up live turkeys, put them inside a stack of tires with just the head exposed, and shoot at it from a hundred yards. Winner of each round got the turkey and half the entry pot, and the local butcher would buy the bird for $2 if you didn’t want to mess with it.

We still have turkey shoots. Shooting at clay targets. Winners get turkeys.
