Extraordinary Twitter/X thread on Brit police force who used social media to jail robbery gang

@LancsPolice

How it started 🤑

How it's going 🤔

@LancsPolice

Not Samuel Walmsley’s brightest idea. 💡

He’s one of fourteen men jailed for nearly 50 years for his role in crime conspiracies in Great Harwood.

Our investigation unravelled the criminal activity of Sam and his friends - Kevin Docherty, Noah Mulligan & Jordan Whittam.

We recovered videos from Walmsley’s phone, implicating the gang as being involved in burglary, vehicle theft and the supply of cocaine and cannabis.

It wasn’t too difficult, mind you.🙄

They filmed cash and bank cards stolen during a burglary in Clitheroe.

As well as showing off a stolen van on Snapchat, capturing items taken during burglaries and describing it as “a good night’s work”.

The gang also trolled a post on a Clitheroe community Facebook page featuring the co-defendants breaking into a car, laughing and saying “that’s me in the boot (trunk)”.

But something tells us they aren't laughing now 😃

These defendants thought it appropriate to capture their criminal activities on film and brazenly mock hard-working members of society.

We're here to send a message to anyone intent on this type of criminality - this will not be tolerated in Lancashire.

Through #OpWarrior, we will continue to disrupt and dismantle organised crime and crack down on burglary and vehicle crime.

This gang were brazen to say the least.

I'm guessing the judge wasn't impressed either and explains their sentences.

I hear about it all the time, especially on law enforcement twitter accounts, even though I don't have twitter. Because sometimes the news outlets pick it up & report on it too. TIk TOK has been another source.

I’m totally OK with this kind of snooping/arrests...

...it’s retaliation against political positions obtained from social media that make my blood boil.

Nigel Farage is a great man!
