Do you think that, in eternity, we will be able to have our earthly pets?

My cat died today. She was 20. She was a beautiful golden brown tabby. She was very good cat to get along with. She loved her family. Yes, I'm saddened, but she lived a pretty good life.

God honoured me by allowing her to pass on before I brought her to the vet for euthanization. The vet told me that the lack of corneal activity probably indicated that she only operating autonomously, with her heart and lungs and bodily functions. But that was all that was left of her.

So, while we will probably have pets in heaven and eternity because that is our nature, to want to have pets. Will God allow the pets we loved to join us in eternity or will we have to satisfy ourselves with new pets only?

I had two dogs, both husky-german shepherd crosses. Those two might fight.

Heaven is all about worshiping God, not ourselves.

I hope so. T think so. A while ago I read an article about this and the premise was that it’s based on love. The way we get to Heaven is that we’re connected to God through his love for us. The way pets get to Heaven is via the connection of our love for them.

Of course, that’s not Scriptural in ANY way! Nothing in Scripture addresses pets. It does clearly mention lions and lambs.

I often cry for my sweet pets that have passed and hope I’ll see them in the Hereafter.

“I’ve been tearing up quite a bit over it.”

I’m tearing up over this thread. Uncontrollable sobbing for days after losing any of our cats.

20 Bible Verses about Pets In Heaven

https://www.openbible.info/topics/pets_in_heaven

As another poster commented, Jesus will return riding a white horse, answering the question of whether animals are in Heaven, and evidence of His pet specifically. As for our own personal pets, I believe they will be there as well, as a way to ensure our complete happiness. While the Bible may not answer this question explicitly, I believe there is more than enough circumstantial scripture for us to believe it is as He intended. Thanks.

You’re a terrible person, purposely abandoning God’s creatures because they’re inconvenient. Once pets have been cared for they can’t fend for themselves to survive.

I don’t agree, but I hope you’re right.

Better question - will we even care about pets in Heaven?
It’s said that man and wife will no longer be together, so if God has a special place in his heart for the sanctity of marriage, and doesn’t maintain it, why maintain the relationship between us and animals?

I say this as a pet lover who has lost several special friends in pets.

As my pastor friend says, God will do what is right; somehow; however He does it, it will be alright.

I saw something I felt was spiritual on Wednesday night when my sweet Sara passed. She has been in poor health for the last several weeks, diagnosed with a failing kidney, and I was having to feed her with a syringe the last few days.

Sara has a twin brother, also siamese in appearance, that I rescued at the same time. I called them my siamese twins. But Sam usually lived up on the second floor, unless he came down to eat, or the weather was cold and he wanted to snuggle her. Sarah lived downstairs, and only went upstairs when I did.

So Wednesday night, just before bedtime, I fed Sarah with the syringe, and then laid her over on the couch on her favorite blanket and kitty pillow like every night recently. However this time, I noticed something wasn’t quite right with her. Her back legs were sort of locking up. I started petting her little head, and asking baby are you all right?

All of a sudden, out of nowhere, here comes Sam flying in the room. Hadn’t seen him all day. He looks at her and meows. She’s unable to move her head much but still there with us, I can see it in her eyes. Then he looks at me and meows. Then he just looks back at her. I patted him on the head, before giving my attention back to her. At that exact moment, the life starts going from her eyes, slowly.

Obviously a lot was going on for me at that exact moment, but it didn’t take long for me to feel like a spiritual connection had somehow been made between the two, so that he could be there for them to say their goodbyes in that brief moment. I don’t know how else to explain it, because there I wasn’t doing anything to attract his attention, and he had actually been keeping his distance from her since she started getting sick.

Maybe it was just a coincidence, but I don’t believe it was. I felt their love, and our love, and it made her passing something I will never forget. I’ve had other religious experiences and this one had a similar feel.

My little dog died at my feet, while I was in bed. Back in 2021.

Every day I tried to remember to tell him that he was a gift from God.

Condolences on everyone’s losses.

It’s said that man and wife will no longer be together, so if God has a special place in his heart for the sanctity of marriage, and doesn’t maintain it, why maintain the relationship between us and animals?

As it was explained to me, the "together" is referring to sex. There will be no sex in heaven because there is no need for sex in heaven.

There are too many other places in scripture that refer to us being reunited in one way or another with family and friends to think that God would, for some reason, separate man and wife.

As for the animals...this is me now, not scripture...I have come to believe that there is an energy, a consciousness, a soul, in every living creature. That is what makes it "living". Mankind has a "divine" soul, made in the image of our creator. It is special. Animals also have a type of soul, just not one in the image of God.

Energy cannot be destroyed, it can only change. When we die, the energy that animates us, our soul, joins the presence of God. Because of the nature of our soul, we will have an understanding - likely incomplete - of the glory of God. Other once living beings will be there...people we've loved, pets we loved.

So what about Hell? The Crusher Cosmology has that covered. People who have rejected God's love will continue to do so. They will not accept "a man in the sky making rules". This will mean, in death, they will be isolated from the energy, from the presence of God, in darkness, alone with the self satisfaction that they were "right", there is no Heaven.

Unless God plans to make us like Vulcans, I tend to believe we will have pets in Heaven and eternity on Earth. It’s our created nature to want to bond.

I am counting on it. That's why I try to live a clean life, in the hopes I make it to Heaven, where I will get to see my little friends again.

First, sorry for the loss of your beloved pet.

I still miss my Teddy who's been gone a little over 5 years now. Best dog I ever had.

Will we have our pets in heaven? Lord, I sure hope so. I miss all my boys and I often pray to God that when my time comes, our Father in Heaven will send them over the hill to come greet me. I will happily pass from this life to the next when I see them.

And then I hope I have plenty of play time with them to hug them, cry how much I've missed them and then enter the Kingdom of Heaven with them so I can fall at my Saviors feet and cry some more.
