I remember we had some note on us in Basic stating that we would drink between blank, but not to exceed blank canteens per hour.
Someone had recently died of hyponatremia.

I remember we had some note on us in Basic stating that we would drink between blank, but not to exceed blank canteens per hour.I've heard of people dying from water toxicity, typically ecstasy users or people with serious OCD issues but they're usually drinking gallons of water. Here we're talking about a half gallon. I could easily chug this with no problem if I was hot and thirsty. Sure, I might have to piss a lot but it doesn't seem like a crazy amount.

Good call. The victim likely had undiagnosed hyponatremia (sodium depletion), probably because of an unrecognized tumor affecting her endocrine system. The headaches and thirst are the giveaway. Her brain was swelling due to lack of sufficient sodium in her blood, while the thirst was her body's way of signaling a need to take in salt.
