Despite a back and forth roller coaster this morning on social media that saw the Pac-12 miraculously saved then pushed back into a grave, it appears that Washington and Oregon will put the final nails into the conference’s coffin. Both schools’ presidents have reportedly given notice that they plan to accept to an invitation to join the Big Ten.

USC and UCLA leaving was the beginning of the end. Should be some great games in Autzen.
Not much of a loss for the pac-12 and not much of a gain for the big-10.
Money does ruin some things.
Zero gain for the big ten.
As a college wrestling fan, this could either be awesome or terrible.
Currently all B1G schools have wrestling teams and it is widely recognized as by far the most dominant conference.
If 4 new schools (who don’t currently have programs) choose to continue not to have programs, others in the B1G may choose to drop theirs. College wrestling is not a money making venture like Football or Basketball. Expanding the B1G to these new teams could be the beginning of the end of college wrestling.
On the other hand, if all of these 4 western and southern schools decide to start new D1 wrestling programs, it could be great for the sport’s future.
Isn’t the BIG 10 like the BIG 12 or 13 now? How about rename it to BIG 15 or whatever the total will be. The idea of BIG anything has long since outlived it’s glory.
MAYBE if they DUMP U of M the glory can return. LOL
I would not be surprised to see Cal and Stanford cancel their football programs rather than go independent.
Social justice/woke issues may be the driving reason now that they are not in a major conference.
Yes this is the end of the PAC 12.
Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah will go to the Big 12.
The remainder can get members from the Mountain West or merge with them to survive. Would they accept former members of the PCAA/Big West Conference, schools they used to look down on?
As a dyed-in-the wool WSU fan, I’d tell UW to go F themselves for any future Apple Cups (123 years tradition now gone in lieu of TV revenues).
College Football. A celebration of anti-American woketard institutions.
Maybe, but the primary driver of conference realignment is tv viewers and the media revenue they bring. Cal and Stanford come up short in that regards. Still those schools remain in the discussion due to their olympic sports and academic chops. The Big Ten likes to maintain the narrative that conference members are also research universities.
The BIG now refers to television markets, not the schools.
So now it’s the PAC-ten and the big 12, right?
