From what I have read the earths magnetic field is weakening much faster than previously measured. That will weaken the Van Allen Belt strength. What happens if the strength of the magnetic field is not cyclical(wax and wane) ,but linear(wane)? We may not have to worry about going through the VAB...we may not survive.
