NO ONE. Particularly people who cling to the past.
I remember a psychology professor who defined sanity as the distance between our perception of reality and reality itself. The smaller the distance, the saner one is.
The problem is that reality is a moving target. And human beings vary in their willingness to adapt to a rapidly changing reality.
On the other hand, you have people in the Woke Movement who are completely unplugged from reality because they believe reality is what you want it to be. The distance between their perception of reality and actual reality is almost infinite because their perception is untethered from reality.
“I remember a psychology professor who defined sanity as the distance between our perception of reality and reality itself.”
Thomas Szasz had a different view that stuck with me. He argued that sanity was a cultural artifact—the distance between a person’s perception of reality and the culture’s perception of reality.
“Mental health” = conformity to social and intellectual norms set by the culture.
Reality itself had nothing to do with it!
