Thomas Szasz had a different view that stuck with me. He argued that sanity was a cultural artifact—the distance between a person’s perception of reality and the culture’s perception of reality.

“Mental health” = conformity to social and intellectual norms set by the culture.

Reality itself had nothing to do with it!

Being pretty much stranded on a desert island that makes sense. When I have to go commingle with society it is pretty easy to see the insanity and lack of reality. A sane person the now the extremely rare bird.

Insane mental professionals judging whats insane or not. If they live in an alternate reality how can they rightfully judge accurately?

They can’t...
