They would probably have worked out the details of designated driving or call a cab. They would leave their car in the lot and pick it up the next day.
She’s definitely being all about her.
A bar in the town where I went to college had the idea off having an intoxilizer installed as a courtesy for patrons so they could check their levels and decide if they needed a cab. It lasted about two weekends until it became central to drinking contests to see who could blow the highest.
Back in the day I would have used this for contests on who could get the highest reading.
