Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sat down with "Special Report" on Monday for a wide-ranging interview, offering insight into whether former President Donald Trump can win in a general election.
DeSantis said he doesn’t believe Trump can win in 2024 because there are "too many voters who just aren't going to vote for him going forward."
"I saw it in Florida in my re-election. You know, I won the first time by less than a percent, second time by ‘20. Why did people vote against me in ‘18 but then voted for me in ‘22? The number one reason they gave was because of Trump."
"Because in ‘18 they said that they were voting against Trump. Voting against me, to vote against Trump, even though they didn't know much about me," he said. The Florida governor handily won re-election in November 2022, defeating Democratic candidate Charlie Christ by nearly 20 points.
DeSantis also told host Bret Baier that Trump can’t win crucial states like Georgia and Arizona in a general election.
"The polls that come out… I beat Biden in Georgia. Trump doesn't. I beat Biden soundly in Arizona. Trump doesn't. Those are just the realities," he said.
"And I also think in terms of the base, you need to have a cadre of personnel. If you want to slay this administrative state, you've got to be disciplined, you've got to be focused, and you've got to have people surrounding you that are going to go and support the mission. I think the former president would have a very difficult time getting the type of personnel to join the administration that you would need to actually bring this stuff to fruition," he continued.

It's their strategy of "owning the Libs" by sending more of them to Washington.
It was a fluke that Trump won in 2016 and he lucked out in running against Hillary. The Democrats did not make that mistake again.
"Pretending" to be a RINO by firing Soros prosecutors, flipping Florida crimson red, advancing conservatism, and winning elections?
Yeah, what a RINO.
I often think that Trump ran in 2016 to publicize "Trump TV" (remember that?). He never really expected to go as far as he did, certainly not win the presidency. And once he did, he didn't have a clue of what to do.
You are welcome to vote for whoever you like. That’s how the system works.
However, you are deluding yourself if you believe Desantis has a prayer in a national election.
Desantis has the Hillary problem.. .the more he’s seen the lower he polls...
For crying out loud. How many “he’ll break out when”s are you willing to fall for.
“Oh once he announced, then hell break out.”
“Oh once Trump’s indicted, then he’ll break out.”
“Oh once he relaunches his campaign, then he’ll break out.”
Reality is we are already on what, the 3rd or 4 of these, and Desantis just keeps on falling.
Desantis does not have the presence, he’s a LOUSY retail politician... For crying out loud, If Trump hadn’t shown up to carry him over the finish line in 18, he would have lost to a corrupt drug addict! yet, he’s going to win a national campaign? Not possible. The more Desantis is seen, the lower he polls, and that’s not going to change.
His money is coming from the establishment money men, less than 15% of his campaign funds are coming from individual donors, there is just no support of note for him, and none is going to miraculously appear between now and January for him.
We will see how this all plays out, but I see absolutely no way Desantis can win a national general election, when odds are strong he won’t even get 10% of the primary vote when its all done.
The episode is in contrast to other Black Mirror episodes with its contemporary setting; it explores public distrust of politicians. Initially based in part on the politician and future British prime minister Boris Johnson, the character of Waldo was widely compared to business magnate Donald Trump following his successful 2016 campaign to become President of the United States.
Trump had his moment and the politicians sucked and people were sick and tired of the status quo.
Golden Beagle is just larping as a patriot. He comments like a leftists douche with TDS.
Reno has a bad case of TDS and it has rendered him constipated and impotent. Forgive him.
Seems you count Trump as evil or the lesser evil. Which candidate do you think not any bit evil? The Rinos? The one who lied to their state citizens saying they wanted to be governor then after being elected told some they were gonna run for president? The one who had a state rule changed so he could run for President after lying to his state citizens and just being elected governor? The one galavanting around as if campaigning and evading the question about if he was campaigning looking stupid to everyone in the world but those backing him? The one who moved money from an account for state race to federal wrongly and thinks nothing of it and trys to make it seem he has raised a lot of money when really he just moved over money and has big donations from people who hate the man running who would help expose their greedy anti-american schemes? Which one?
You are welcome to vote for whoever you like. That’s how the system works.
However, you are deluding yourself if you believe Desantis has a prayer in a national election.

The last thing we need to do is “roll the dice” with an nationally unknown candidate. Taking a chance on the “flavor of month” is a risk I’m not willing to take.
Besides, Were any of these dwarf candidates cheated out of their 2nd term as President?
Nope, none of them were cheated in 2020 and none of them have a clue what it takes to be President.
(Which is why Trump is leading us to a civil war?)
I’m ready for it. Are you? I’ve got my M1-Garand ready. What do you have, a Daisy Red Ryder BB Gun?
Whether it’s true or not, it will be awkward when DeSantis has to walk this back at the convention in his endorsement speech for Trump.
Like DeSantis ever had a chance in 2024.
LOL!
Unfortunately, no Republican of any stripe can ever win again.
Ditto. Lock & load.
It won't be awkward at all. DeSantis, as well as his supporters, understand that Trump, for all of his faults, is still far better than any Democrat. After the primaries, DeSantis will endorse the (R) candidate regardless of who it is. And if it's Trump, he will endorse him without reservation.
It'll be Trump, should he lose the primaries, who will either endorse the Democrat (as he did in Georgia) or run a kamikaze third party campaign to burn the whole place down and send even more Democrats to Washington.
Go look at RealClearPolitics.com, a bit more reliable than 538.
Meatball will never get my vote. I would rather the people rise up and finish the job for Trump, if they stop him again. This $hit has to STOP NOW!!!!!
