I'm sure you have them in your vehicle just in case you see someone jump into a flowing river.

No. I have them in case I need them for any number of things. Pulling another car out of ditch, tying something on to the car, moving something out of the way, holding something back. If you do not carry a rope that is your choice. Same as if you do not carry a first aid kit or a fire extinguisher or a spare tire.

As for me, I know of no one in my vast circle of friends and acquaintances, which includes active LEO,s, who have such items in their vehicles, just in case they may see someone jump into a flowing river.......

I am sure your friends are just like you.

Then what do you suggest they do when their squad car isn't equipped with ropes, floats, grab bars and inflatable rafts just in case a chased suspect jumps into a fast flowing river?

I would suggest that they get out the way of the people who had such things and were willing to help but were told by the police not to do so that the man was not in any danger of drowning.

Give it up dude, you're flimsy argument is sinking faster than a drowning junkie in a river.........

Your attempt to protect the incompetent from being forced to face the fact their their lack of anything that resembled thought resulted in the death of another human is truly heroic.

Despite your ignorance of the event, there was no indication that anyone had any of the items you claim are essential such rescue attempt as well as any of the LEO's squad cars.

Any attempts of bystanders unequipped with anything would have likely resulted in their drowning as well.

As a side note, for all the witnesses present who had floats, ropes, grab poles and flotation devices, why didn't they just ignore the officer's orders and dive in to save the guy?

I'm sure you would have, right?

Seriously? Can you imagine what would have happened if the police had let some random person willing to help go out there and the would-be rescuer also drowned?
