I recently watched an interview with a San Francisco liquor store owner. She said that she was robbed, on the average, six times a day. Not six times a month. Six times a day.
She said all the expensive booze is now locked up. Cash first, as you noted. I suppose she’ll eventually have to do that with all her stuff. Then city council will probably make locking up liquor illegal.
Liberals may look at this as progress and may want to raze all the former capitalistic buildings and replace them with a park for the people. LOL

In Baltimore, some liquor stores are set up so that the customers have to purchase the alcohol from outside of the store. The cashier will get them the liquor they're buying inside the store.
This is the “progress” the “progressives” keep talking about...leftism is a death cult.
We have witnessed the fall of a formerly great city.

The battery-powered scooter at the very start means it’s quite recent. The ‘scene’ there looks very much like South Africa, where you have beautiful, tall, buildings, but a Third World look at street level.
Is this REALLY what most liberals want? I doubt it. More like they’re confused...they are told to HATE TRUMP and anything like him, including the GOP, but then they see this. In the end, they default to doing as told, as they always have, even from the Hippie Days.
The only similar scene I can remember are part of Mexico—it was some university we visited—magnificent architecture with dozens of huge buildings—all vacated.
Also eBikes. Surprised ‘they’ let him film all of this. Eventually they’ll get like Ukraine and China, and simply PREVENT people from reporting on the situation.
Effen shame. Liked that place in the 90’s as a fun shopping district and people watching.
Nancy Pelosi once told us that unemployment was good for the country. You get the unemployment compensation and plenty of free time to do whatever you want.
SF is clearly making giant strides towards equality and perfect socialism in which everyone has been liberated from job lock.

I stayed in the area in 2006 for 3 days. Plenty of closed store fronts back then.
It has become a socialist paradise!
How did those lockdowns work out?
The part of San Francisco in that video is especially bad. I was at about the 2000-2400 area of Market Street (sort of between the Castro and the Mission District)last week. That area seems to be doing semi-okay. It’s grubby and smelly, but businesses are open. Saw a few homeless, a few stoned people, only a couple of tents on the sidewalk. Safeway and Whole Foods were busy. Ace Hardware was doing pretty good business. Restaurants weren’t too busy but had a steady flow of customers.
Drove through some areas in other parts of the city that looked horrific and some of the outlying areas that seemed nice enough. I wasn’t in San Francisco by choice, and it’s sure not somewhere I’d pick for a vacation. No way in hell that I’d ever want to live there.
