Bill Barr says he'll jump off BRIDGE if Donald Trump wins GOP 2024 nomination
Daily Mail ^ | July 30, 2023 | Katelyn Caralle

Only four of the once-Cabinet members for former President Donald Trump publicly said they would support his reelection in 2024, according to a new report.

Several strongly oppose his campaign, some are even working against his bid to become the GOP nominee and many didn't respond to requests to comment on his efforts.

Former Attorney General Bill Barr has some of those most harsh words for his ex-boss, telling NBC News: 'I have made clear that I strongly oppose Trump for the nomination and will not endorse Trump.'

'I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it,' he added when asked how he would vote in the general election if it ends up being a 2020 rematch of Trump vs. President Joe Biden.

Former Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said: 'If anyone can lose to Joe Biden, it would be him.'

Of the 44 people reached by NBC who served in Trump's Cabinet, only four publicly support and endorse his reelection. This includes former acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker, his final Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, former budget chief Russell Vought and former acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell.

Additionally, two former Trump officials are actually running against him in the GOP primary – ex-Vice President Mike Pence and former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.

-snip

Directly on the opposite side of his fellow former Chief of Staff, Mulvaney is among those who wants Trump defeated by another GOP candidate in the primary election.

'I am working hard to make sure that someone else is the nominee,' Mulvaney said to NBC. 'I think he's the Republican who is most likely to lose in a general election, of all our leading candidates. If anyone can lose to Joe Biden, it would be him.'

No President in the history of our Republic has drawn so much venom from HIS OWN former cabinet members. It is quite amazing actually. Dems don’t need to do anything. Republicans are fighting Trump tooth and nail.

Not what Barr said.

He did not say he’d “jump of a bridge” if Trump got the nomination, as in “any bridge” if Trmup got the nomination.

He said “that bridge” and in the context of the question it was if he would endorse Trump if Trump was nominated. That bridge - endorsing Trump or not - was the “bridge” Barr waa referring to.

The media is making more out of THEIR headline than exists in the conext of Barr’s answer.

“If anyone can lose to Joe Biden, it would be him.’”

In a fair election, at this point and time, NO ONE can lose to Biden. Not Trump or anyone else.

In a rigged election, no one can win. Not Trump or any other candidate. If they think a candidate other than Trump can overcome the cheating and win against Biden, they’re sadly mistaken.

Trump was told to pick those traitorous losers by the GOPe stooges planted in his administration for the very purpose to undermine him.

True. But it is also true that:

No President in the history of our Republic has drawn inflicted so much venom from on HIS OWN former cabinet members.

Agreeing to serve in Trump’s Cabinet means almost certainly being denounced, and vilified, by Trump, and his supporters.

Bill Barr says he’ll jump off BRIDGE if Donald Trump wins GOP 2024 nomination

....Barr said he believes Trump lied to the Justice Department and said Republicans who have accused the department of acting politically in this case are wrong.

“The department had no choice but to seek those documents,” Barr said. “Their basic argument really isn’t to defend his conduct because Trump’s conduct is indefensible. What they’re really saying is, he should get a pass because Hillary Clinton got a pass six or seven years ago.”

“That’s not a frivolous argument. But I’m not sure that’s true,” Barr said. “I think if you want to restore the rule of law and equal justice, you don’t do it by further derogating from justice. You do it by applying the right standard here and that’s not unfair to Trump because this is not a case where Trump is innocent and being unfairly hounded. He committed the crime or if he did commit the crime, it’s not unfair to hold him to that standard.”.....
