Personally? I believe Fauci should be tried for crimes against humanity and if convicted, sentenced to the death penalty. Barring that, he deserves to spend every moment of his remaining life in prison.

Exactly this. The U.S., not China, was the but-for cause for the work done that produced SARS-COV-2. Any story that isn't focused on the U.S. military-academic establishment -- e.g., that isn't taking account of the role of people like Deborah Birx and Ralph Baric -- is just blowing smoke.
Fauci was just the middle-man paper pusher here. He was the conduit through which the government money flowed, that's all. I know more about the "science" of viruses than pathetic "Dr." Fauci, and I know essentially nothing about it. Fauci is nothing but an egomaniacal (and clueless) old fool who was happy to play the role of front man for a scheme, the actual details of which he likely knew relatively little (since he's a bureaucratic know-nothing incapable of understanding any of those details).
Meanwhile, those who were operating at the center of this matter were happy to have this clueless old man play that role. For reasons that, as stories like this indicate, become evident with time.
Seems to be a lot of clueless old men running the show.
They are only clueless when asked questions they don't want to answer.
That has been my take on Fauci as well.
The problem with this story is that it leaves out the intent of the Covid gain of function and the subsequent political coup by the same globalists who supported its development.

Yep. That now-notorious clip of the now-late, lamented Kary Mullis, describing Fauci as a narcissistic wannabe, who knew nothing about the "science" he was projected (by some) as lording over, is a classic case of getting straight to the heart of the matter.
Which is not to say that Fauci isn't a dreadful human being. He certainly is. And if he were to possibly end up being made the "fall guy" for the COVID fiasco, there would be some delicious irony in that.
