They’ve always had flooding historically. 3 Gorges was originally supposed to help manage it better, but has instead actually caused more instability.

Eventually everything fails and when this one does - if not able to be properly managed it’ll take out all the cities on that river all the way to the ocean. It’ll be a horrible loss of life.

To save the dam from big water I expect the main action would be to open the locks-—assuming Charlie is there to hit the switch?

a couple years ago the 3 gorges dam was being stressed & at that time somebody posted a link here on the forum to watch the dam cracking with all the flood gates open & water really rolling.

IDK where that video link came from or where it went, but it was kinda neat to watch in real time

If and when the dam fails, the devastation will extend far beyond the flooded areas. The damage to Chinese agriculture alone will cause mass starvation throughout the country, and the effect on Chinese industrial output will have worldwide consequences, not to mention costing China billions of dollars in lost revenue that they will desperately need to rebuild.
