She was a tortured soul.
(Interestingly, she mentioned abuse by her mother. In our current society we blame the fathers, but I often wondered about some of the mothers.)

She wrote a song called "This Is To Mother You," directed towards a hypothetical person who grew up without experiencing motherly love or acceptance. Perhaps she was thinking of her own experience when she wrote the song.

I’ve been saying for years, look at how many times biblical scriptures references “the sins of the father” and even Jesus reminded us how they would be visited upon the third and the fourth generations.
Nowhere does scripture talk about the sins of the mother. The ancients knew those weren’t commenting on as everyone knew they would go on forever.
She was crazier than a sh!thouse rat but an amazing singer.
To fight SO hard for the right to murder the unborn - yet refuse to abort her own son Jake when her career was just starting, then convert to a religion which still openly oppresses women to this day is just TOO much cognitive dissonance for MY level of bipolar disorder.
So long, Sinead. RIP.
Gonna dig out your LP’s now and raise the roof startin’ with The Lion and the Cobra.

No need to wonder, because it’s true. Comes from experience.

My father never abused me.
My mother, on the other hand, broke my nose twice before I was 12yo. She liked kicking with cowboy boots (broken rib), and loved using wire hangers, and extension cords. Any available body part was acceptable.
(I never hit her back either)
