Well the Irish seem to have a lot of them.
God, I hate that bitch.
Can’t wait until we have a similar article about her.
Maybe best known in the US for tearing up a picture of John Paul II on Saturday night live to protest the abuse of children in Ireland by the Catholic Church and the cover up of that abuse.
I think a lot of people knew but they were hiding it.
That was a pretty rough 56 years.
Her career basically went in the toilet after she tore up the picture of the pope.
Very troubled soul. Not much more to say.
There was also the incident at the Bob Dylan Tribute concert where they boo’d her off the stage.

She struggled all her life. Saw her at City Winery in NY. Amazing. She had to start with sunglasses on to block out the audience. As she got more comfortable, they came off. When her meds were good, so was she.
As to the ripping up the pope’s picture, I was angry at the time (I am Catholic). Then I learned she was trying to draw attention to the priest/child sex scandal which wasn’t well known at the time. Maybe not the best way but I’ve become far more understanding of it. She wasn’t wrong.
May she finally have peace.
Kind of like how Johnny Rotten was the only one speaking out against Jimmy Saville.
I wasn’t familiar with that and had to look it up. Upon looking it up, yes, lots of similarities. Including paying a price. Though, Sinead didn’t look upon it as career ending. She felt pop stardom had derailed her career and that put it back on track. Just can’t find any hate in my heart for her.
along with Nothing Compares, I also had the first few lines of this song in my head for years til I started waking up to the lies fed/taught to so many and for too long.
it’s interesting she has a few Jesus scripture lines in there.
sad Sinead spent much time in her mind grieving while the answer (that helped me and many others out of such issues) was Jesus.
Hope they met for keeps in her last moment.
“Black Boys On Mopeds”
Margaret Thatcher on TV
Shocked by the deaths that took place in Beijing
It seems strange that she should be offended
The same orders are given by her
I’ve said this before now
You said I was childish and you’ll say it now
Remember what I told you:
If they hated me they will hate you
England’s not the mythical land of Madame George and roses
It’s the home of police who kill black boys on mopeds
And I love my boy and that’s why I’m leaving
I don’t want him to be aware that there’s
Any such thing as grieving
Young mother down at Smithfield
5 am, looking for food for her kids
In her arms she holds three cold babies
And the first word that they learned was “please”
These are dangerous days
To say what you feel is to dig your own grave
Remember what I told you:
If you were of the world they would love you
England’s not the mythical land of Madame George and roses
It’s the home of police who kill blacks boys on mopeds
And I love my boy and that’s why I’m leaving
I don’t want him to be aware that there’s
Any such thing as grieving
Deeply disturbed soul. RIP.
That’s not accurate
She was always messed up
Terrible childhood
It’s much more than that
Pretty impressed
Less cruelty than usual
She was very troubled with serious mental illness
Nobody wants to be that way
Her mother was awful
She too likely had similar upbringing to what she provided Sinead
Alcohol
Gloomy sky
Celtic proclivity for angst and emotion
Different DNA from British Anglo Saxon and danelaw roots maybe
No question irish are different
And I say that as an ancestry.com 40% ulster Scot and regular Irish DNA person like typical southerner
One thing I’ve noticed about artists is that whatever makes them great also often times makes them crazy.
She was convicted to a reform school and girls were abused there. That case was later prosecuted, but at the time of her stunt people still didn’t believe it was happening.
Say what you want about one Taylor Alison Swift (and we have a lot to say, given her penchant earlier in her life for going through boyfriends in a very public way and her open support of LGBTQ+ causes), but yet she is still a surprisingly grounded person by musical artist standards. With very good reason: the support of her parents, Scott and Andrea Swift. The lack of parental support has derailed many musical careers, to say the least.
Sinead O'Connor had a lot of trouble with non-supportive and abusive parents (especially her mother), and the issues all came out with that infamous Saturday Night Live performance from 1992 that essentially ended her popular music career.
