Wash your food and cook it properly and you’ll have no problems... Don’t and you will.

I love Morel mushrooms! We have them grow on our property in a wooded area near the creek in early spring each year. But, you have to check the area daily because they only appear for a short time.
I never eat them raw and usually cook them with steak or eggs. I’ve never heard of someone getting sick from the cooked mushrooms grown in local wooded areas, I wonder if in this instance it could be from some bacteria located in the soil of the area the mushrooms were grown.

Morel hunting is a popular past time here in Michigan.
You need to be very careful that what you're picking is a genuine Morel.

That would be my guess. I love sushi, but raw, wild mushrooms are not good................

As a general rule, I would avoid sushi restaurants with names like “Dave’s Sushi.” Also would steer clear of gas station sushi.

The sushi shop at the gas station?
I think I found the problem.

I've only cooked morels that I've found in the wild. Generally sauteed in butter. Morels are very easy to identify, but first time doing so should be with someone that's in the know. That said, cooking them kills off bad bacteria - this is coming from lawns and forests, where animals go....
And, then there are false morels, easily distinguished, but be aware of them. False morels are more like an unfocused version of a real morel:

Never order sushi from a place called “Dave’s Sushi”. Fortunately I don’t have a sushi problems around Tokyo because none are named “Dave’s”.

“...sushi containing morels...”
I like them both, but never thought to pare them together. Ugh!
No Morels for us this season - too dry, too hot. :(
