You may want to research what you just posted about a bit more. Not sure where people get these myths from. Qualified immunity is ONLY available if the govt employee is actually doing THEIR JOB when the harm occurs.
He was doing his job. I watch multiple similar reports daily and unless the officer was not on duty, he is covered by qualified immunity.
Even in those cases where cops raid the wrong house and kills an innocent they are generally covered by immunity.

Here is a fairly interesting case where an off-duty deputy went road rage and was initially arrested yet also granted immunity, but was later stripped of his immunity in the court process.
