The Native Americans across the Southwest believed the Democrats. The Democrats came in and shut down their minerals and oil/gas and created huge problems in the Navajo Reservation. Empty promises of 'solar' and 'jobs' turned into job loss. Promises of a future turned into destroying "sovereignty" over the 'climate change'. Nobody understands better than the Hopi and the Navajo about destroying the environment and it's risks, it's embedded in culture and religion, so it was probably easy to lie to them and destroy their industry.

Forty eight years ago, when I lived at Farmington NM, there were plans to build power plants and refineries on the Reservation which would have given the Navajos jobs, brought them non-alkalai water to drink and upped their standard of living.

Then the American Indian radical Movement(AIM) blew into town and got all that was shut down.
