Well, considering that 85% of the world is NOT ‘sanctioning’ Russia, including China which literally MAKES EVERYTHING now, why should there be any problems at their malls.

That’s what I don’t get about Cuba. They can trade with every other country on the planet, but yet they are still in poverty, and they blame the US embargo.

I texted with someone here on FR who lives in Russia and recommended others do the same. Sometimes I wonder. It seems they got their act together over there while the US is coming apart at the seams.

Correction - some stuff is locked up, pretty much like the US used to be.

Wealth is not about trade. Trade might increase your wealth, but real wealth is other things. The rule of law and ownership of property. If I am allowed to work my butt off and build a business, I can get wealthy. But if the government or gangs (the difference is only suits and a dental plan) come in and take whatever I build, why would I build anything? After the fall of the Berlin wall someone asked an American diplomat how they could become as wealthy as Americans. He said, “Every day for two hundred years every citizen gets up and tries to do the best by himself that he can. Then, everyone will be wealthy.”
You sit in a country were the communist policies are turning our cities into hellscapes, and you claim that Russia has Potemkin villages?

Congratulations on a salient point. While the White Powder House and Democrats are busy screaming all sorts of "squirrel" the Democrat-led inner cities are in slo-motion decline. San Francisco is a poster child for this, with Democrats at the city, county, state and, sadly, national level. Businesses are making rational decisions to flee, and REITs and other commercial properties are at risk. Democrats, as "the US is coming apart at the seams."
Russia still has problems but their current trajectory is UP while communist America’s current trajectory under Biden and the communists is DOWN. With modern smart phones, and the ability to share videos across country lines censorship of the old Soviet style is now impossible.
You now live in a country where propaganda and censorship by the government is the RULE, not the exception.
Hey I’m just trying to look out for the health of the Russian people.
