And just where do any of y’all plan and getting enough energy to do that?

I said mathematically, not physically. That is the rub. Now there could be something physically in the quantum world ( entanglement and such)but that is left to be seen.

Clickbait.

Yes, I just finished reading it.

The argument from the early universe was especially irrelevant: the early universe had enough energy that particles were traveling > c. That does NOT imply that we know how to accelerate a particle above c under present conditions.

For the rest, poking holes in strawman paradox arguments is not sufficient to show that FTL travel is possible.

A matronly wisdom that's so comforting.

Sabine Hossenfelder could learn some mansplaining skills from Trump. Like most women, she throws out many flares and chaff that can quickly wear out someone's learning focus. Like most women, her big contribution to the field of physics is: she complains a lot.

From what I understood of the video, her purpose was not to prove that time travel is possible, but that the assumptions and equations that make people believe time travel is impossible don't really demonstrate that it is impossible. In other words, she is saying that we haven't proven that time travel is impossible, despite many people believing we have.

Sabine Hossenfelder doesn't understand physics?

Perhaps you should teach her since you know more than she does.

Sheesh. What is wrong with Freepers nowadays?

BTW, the intelligent response to someone's theory would be to actually explain where you believe they are incorrect. Not to insult them or attack their person.

Why not just hell, "Squirrel!"

She is a Research Fellow at the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies where she leads the Superfluid Dark Matter group.”

I'd ask her out but I wouldn't know what to talk about.

And all it takes is hitting a random space rock traveling at any speed and it’s all over... I wouldn’t put much faith in these scenarios until and adequate energy shield is devised...

And just how do you reach the conclusion that she doesn't submit her theories for peer review? Because YOU haven't seen them?

Scientists are also presenting their theories in podcasts so that people who are not their scientific peers might get the benefit of their work. Are you suggesting that not be done?

Earlier this year, some scientists ran a wormhole simulation on Google's Sycamore quantum computer, a simulation that could only be done on a machine that utilizes cubits, and depends on standard model characteristics such as superposition and entanglement.

In this experiment, they were able to transfer a qubit from one end of the wormhole to the other, thereby proving that Einstein-Rosen Bridges can exist and do function as predicted by theory.

What this immediately implies is that, at the least, instantaneous communications over arbitrary distances are possible. By extension, since matter is only a condensed form of energy, is that teleportation is possible. Or "warp drive", if you prefer that term.

With this approach, concepts such as "faster than light" become irrelevant. You can just walk through.

This is just the beginning, of course. There are all sorts of considerations, like how much power one would need to bend space in such a fashion in the physical world, particularly at macroscopic distance scales.

But this is a significant step in the right direction.

Are you absolutely sure we know all there is to know about physics?

Did you know that answers to the presence of UFOs that include FTL sound more intelligent than "UFOs aren't here"?

I have enjoyed Susan Hossenfelder’s videos for years, but I have always been curious about her regional accent. It seems almost Bavarian to me, but not quite. Does any German-speaker here know?

I don’t think living things would respond well to the g forces.

If you accelerate the ship and let it push on the occupants, that would be true. If you accelerate the entire mass, it wouldn't.

For people who are afraid of thinking about anything new, the speed of thought is zero or less.;-)

Their heels are dug in, their minds are closed, and they are trying to move in a negative direction.

**It’s all simple algebra**

When I was in 8th (1967-68 school year) I was introduced to algebra. I said to myself, “what?? We are using the alphabet instead of numbers to do math?? Oh please NO!!”

I always enjoyed word problems WITH numbers. And the reality is, every calculation is a word problem. When I was presented an equation, with no situation in life to apply it to, I just wanted the period ending bell to ring.
