Why Ukraine’s counter-offensive is failing
Responsible Statecraft ^ | JULY 19, 2023 | Daniel L. Davis

Last March, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that as a result of significant Western support, the Ukrainian military’s spring offensive had “a very good chance for success.” Former Chief of the British General Staff, General Richard Dannatt, went so far as to suggest that Ukraine’s offensive would be so successful that Putin “may be swept out of the Kremlin” as a result.

Combat reality, however, has now swept away those optimistic claims and exposed the harsh truth: Ukraine is unlikely to militarily evict Russia out of its territory, no matter how many men they feed into battle.

Well, in Austin’s defense the offense has been successful, at least for Putin, that is.

We still have holdouts preventing us from transitioning to a fully effective diverse army.

Eighteen months in to a ten day war and Ukraine is stalemating mighty Ruzzia. That alone is a victory.

Reminds me a bit of our effort in Vietnam. Biden and his establishment buddies seem to want to just give Ukraine enough to keep the war going, but not enough to drive the Russians out. Endless conflict is good for business.

The war is going just as planned. We are in year two of forever. It is exactly what the MIC wants.

Completely destroyed infrastructure and 354,000 casualties. Holding off Russian is a Pyrrhic Victory at best. The only real winners on both sides is the United States Military Industrial Complex.

Ukraine is being systematically destroyed, basically acting as cannon fodder to a bunch of psychopaths.

The American have been lied to once again, after a while you would think the American in large numbers would hold these people accountable.

In a sane world and government, people like Austin, Milley and any advisor to Biden would resign or be fired, except Biden is perfectly fine with all this.

The Ukrainians gave their timing away.

This allowed Russians to easily not have soldiers on leave and to run its arms factories on massive overtime.

Do we know when the Russian offensive will be? No, and for good reason from the Russian point of view.

Austin is an idiot, whereas Douglas McGregor, said that those in Washington, the Biden neocons, who demand an offensive without air cover, should be brought up on murder charges.

“Ukraine is stalemating Russia”. That’s rich! As Russia stalemates, it’s sitting on all top of all territorial goals they had in Ukraine in March ‘22. Mexico has been stalemating the United States since 1848. The US hasn’t gotten an acre more of Mexico that wasn’t bought and paid for. I guess you take your victories where you can dream them up.

"I feel like I’ve seen this story at least once before, a month or two ago."

You're not the only one. Stories about Ukraine's offensive, or failing offensive are as numerous, as media reports that the "walls are closing in on Donald Trump."
