It took me a moment to get it but.... That's with one T.

I personally would not set foot in anyplace that has hot.   I've been to Hooters a few times but would never order anything spicy hot.   I suspect those guys wouldn't have anything that hot though.

Yes, exactly this.

Story #1 - I was in a Thai restaurant with some friends, and one of them likes things VERY VERY hot. He ordered his drunken noodles, and the woman asked “How spicy you like?” he responds “I want native. I want you to make like it was for you”, and she responds “IF I MAKE NATIVE YOU DIEEEE!”

Story #2 - My dad loved very hot stuff. I would send him packets of habanero seeds for his birthday, and he would plant them, and eat the peppers. One year I sent him some “little round Thai peppers”, and he planted them, and they produced, and he ate *1* of them. Told me “Don’t send me any more of THOSE things.”

one idiot spilled hot coffee on themselves from a fast food drive through and successfully sued.

Have you actually read about that case? The coffee was over 180F. I don’t care WHO you are, that’s too hot.

Quote:

“The plaintiff, Stella Liebeck (1912–2004), a 79-year-old woman, suffered third-degree burns in her pelvic region when she accidentally spilled coffee in her lap after purchasing it from a McDonald’s restaurant. She was hospitalized for eight days while undergoing skin grafting, followed by two years of medical treatment. Liebeck sought to settle with McDonald’s for $20,000 to cover her medical expenses. When McDonald’s refused, Liebeck’s attorney filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico, accusing McDonald’s of gross negligence.

Other documents obtained from McDonald’s showed that from 1982 to 1992 the company had received more than 700 reports of people burned by McDonald’s coffee to varying degrees of severity, and had settled claims arising from scalding injuries for more than $500,000. McDonald’s quality control manager, Christopher Appleton, testified that this number of injuries was insufficient to cause the company to evaluate its practices. “

Oh, man, do those look good! Not a pepper-head here but that looks delicious. Not fit for human consumption? If I were the restaurant I'd counter-sue for slander.

It's a Thai restaurant. The menu is marked. The dish is suggestively named. The wait staff are saying "This will hurt you." They deliver it to your table wearing a decontamination suit and set it down in front of you with fireplace tongs. Expect it to be hot, you ditz!

I’ve eaten at that restaurant. Good food!

Thai food is supposed to be spicy.

Is this the same woman that sued Mcdonald for serving hot coffee?

The point of Thai food is wiping the snot off your upper lip while reaching enthusiastically for the next bite.

The hottest thing I have ever had in my mouth (and that's saying something) was a Thai fish salad.

Here's a free clue: The heat comes from capsaicin (8-methyl-N-vanillyl-6-nonenamide) which is a component of flowering plants in the genus Capsicum. It is *NOT* water soluble and if you drink anything like water or soda after eating it is going to make it worse. It is FAT SOLUBLE so a drink of something like milk will stop the burn instantly.

Here's another clue, take two they're free:

Mango Lassi is the drink to accompany any dish like this. Just last Saturday I frequented a hole in the wall joint in San Jose and ordered the Lamb Vindaloo "extra spicy." I would have wound up like this lady if it weren't for the mango lassi.

A chicken tender and fried fish ,cod and catfish, place near me has a Rambo spice level.

The hottest level uses Carolina ghost peppers. You have to sign a waiver to order it.

Anything involving those little red oriental peppers will be SUPREMELY spicy.

She could be what is known as a “vexatious litigator”. Ca. puts out a list of them. Some people are obsessed over their gender, others are obsessed over suing people. Most Thai places with a chili 🌶️ next to an item on the menu aren’t that bad..I would say very warm to moderately hot at worst.

Many years ago, a met a friend for a movie and dinner. There was an authentic Thai restaurant just around the corner from the theater that was highly rated.

I like spicey and hot food and I like Thai, but I made the mistake of ordering the Green Thai Curry. One would think the Red Curry would be hotter but no, it’s the Green.

The server even asked if I was sure cautioning it was very “hot”. LOL! It was good but about halfway through my eyeballs started sweating. Several days and a bottle of Pepto I was OK.

Would I order it again?

Yep.

I would also mention that I am of Scandinavian descent and my Norwegian born dad and I used to eat banana and other hot peppers straight out of the jar.

I am also a red head.

Oddly, the heat goes down the next day. If something is too hot, I just stick it in the refrigerator and eat it the next day

You are far tougher than I.

I’ve eaten wings so hot my face went numb. I could still taste the chicken and sauces, but wow was that ever hot. The place literally burned to the ground a little later. I wonder if that hot condiment could have been involved?
