This is just very poor design with no attention paid to ease of repair or maintenance.

The same was true oF some ICE cars where to replace the spark plugs you almost had to take the engine out.

That was the old Pontiac Sunbird and related models.

You had to lift the motor in a hoist to get at the back two spark plugs.

Straw dog. VERY few cars had inaccessible spark plugs and they only need replacing 2-3 times over the life of car. Every EV’s batteries fill the base of the car so even a minor accident will mean repairs costing at least $10,000 and probably a lot more.

Collision repair on every vehicle, not just EVs, is just getting more and more and more expensive.

In the old days, with just carbon steel, a light hit could often just be pulled back into spec. Carbon steel has a memory, it likes to go back to where it was originally stamped - easy repair.

But with the higher strength steels which are now most of the vehicle, any damage cannot be pulled. High strength steel when bent in a hit, the structure is compromised, that component must be replaced, not pulled.

And the same for aluminum and carbon fiber etc.

So when almost any collision damage is replace, rather than pull, the cost of repairs goes into orbit.
