Dude got into a fender-bender in his Rivian. Insurance offered $1,600. The repair bill was $42,000.

” my Porsche is a weekend driver and I am VERY careful.”

So, what is the point of having a performance car if you end up driving like a Priaps driver?

No criticism, just an observation. Something vintage, no question. Something modern, why?

Like all the spiffy mid-engine Corvettes I see being driven like a granny.

IIRC, Kalifornia only requires $15k for minimum liability insurance. These EV drivers are simply going to be s#!t out of luck in collisions in the land of fruits and nutz.

“The Tesla’s have unibody construction. “

Funny, because their bodies all look like blow-molded plastic.

Figured the used a company that made lawn furniture.

they dont care

they dont care

they dont care

the object is not to replace gas cars with EVs

the object is to destroy private transportation

they will tell the peons to shut up and

get on the bus

the EV replacement is

a ruse
a dodge
a scam
a con

I was in an accident last year here in SoCal...road rage dude deliberately ran into me. We both had the same insurer...but they did an investigation and assigned fault to the other driver. They paid my deductible and expenses. So not no-fault here.

My son recently leased an EV and the entire dash is two computer screens that control everything. Even a small software glitch could easily leave you stranded. I also dislike the door handles that retract and need electric power to open. I was an ambulance medic for more than two decades and could easily see many situations where the driver might be incapacitated due to medical issues and it would be impossible to access the patient without having to break a window or physically tear off a door.

Maybe charging stations could help movie theaters.

Didn’t government say that they would be subsidizing charging stations?

Buy a ticket and watch a movie, all while the car gets a free charge.

Chris Apfelstadt told the publication that while he'd expected the repair wouldn't be cheap, it was a "shocking number."

Shocking? Well, yeah. It is electric. LOL!

Straw dog. VERY few cars had inaccessible spark plugs and they only need replacing 2-3 times over the life of car. Every EV’s batteries fill the base of the car so even a minor accident will mean repairs costing at least $10,000 and probably a lot more.

Every ‘problem’ is a Business Opportunity.

I foresee a business where a company takes a 20 year old vehicle and rebuilds it to ‘Like New’ condition, inside and out with some necessary upgrades where appropriate.

New trucks, cars, etc, will become all EV and no one will buy them.

The older vehicles with new/rebuilt powertrains and modern electronics and suspensions will become the norm for a good while, until America gets over its love affair with EVs..............................

Buy a ticket and watch a movie, all while the car gets a free charge.

The movie might be 2 hours, the charge might be 1/2 hour. So, the car sits there hogging the charger for 1.5 hours. Other people might not take kindly to that.

Except they will raise rates on all of us to cover this. So get ready for the $2000 Deductible.

I might be using the wrong term. I mean the frame for the roof, windows, doors and undercarriage all comes out of the casting machine in two big pieces.

I could be wrong, but I think that is what I remember from a YouTube video I saw a few months back.

Musk had an Italian company build a casting machine so they could cast the frame in 1 or 2 pieces. The model Y made in China is cast in one piece. That is how they can assemble them so fast.
