Southern California lifeguards said they spotted at least three juvenile great white sharks off the coast of Black’s Beach on Friday and are warning beachgoers to exercise caution in the area.
The San Diego-Fire-Rescue Department posted a photo to the agency’s Facebook page of a sign that was to be temporarily installed on the beach warning of the marine life.
According to the agency, the sharks were feeding on the carcass of a sea lion and were not exhibiting aggressive behavior.
There have been no other reported sightings of the sharks that were thought to the 6, 8 and 9 feet long.
According to the San Diego Tourism Authority, the area is famous for being one of the largest nude beaches in North America and is known for its giant swells.
Swimming is not generally recommended year-round due to rough surf conditions created by cliffs.
Locals said the powerful waves make the beach a destination for experienced surfers, especially during the winter.
The beach is less than five miles away from the site of California’s most recent shark attack, which happened in 2022.
In November, Lyn Jutronich told San Diego’s FOX5 she was finishing her weekly swim at Del Mar Beach when she was rammed by a shark that clamped down on her thigh.

**Years ago WLS had a 5 minute show called Animal Stories. At the height of the “JAWS” craze, the two dj’s cited a study that showed sharks are most likely to attack a “dangling appendage” like an arm or a leg. One dj (I think it was Johnny Lujack)...**
That was ‘superjock’ Larry Lujack. His sidekick was Tom Edwards (’little snot-nosed Tommy). Lujack’s ‘cheap trashy showbiz report’ and ‘clunk letter of the day’ were also quite witty.
1) Lots of people don't look so good sans clothing.
2) Stay away from the North side of the beach unless you drink Bud Lite.
3) It's a lot of fun to watch a node womens' volleyball game on the beach.

You don’t have to spit out the clothes ☺️🦈
WAS VOLUNTEERING TO COORDINATE THE March of Dimes Walk about 1996 at my place of employment. The full time coordinator set up a tour of the Salk Institute in Torrey Pines for some of us. They were growing extra wings on chickens. Think curing thalidomide babies.
Anyway lunch was on the patio in back and i noticed helicopters would be approaching from up and down the coast and slow down. We were on a bluff and the beach was below hidden from our view. The coordinator said it was Blacks beach and the Navy and Marine choppers were slowing down.
She asked us if we wanted to hit the beach and see everything (literally) up close. I wussed out thinking my wife wouldn’t appreciate it. Oh well.
Tuck-friendly swimsuits at Target!
Black beach was so much fun 30 plus years ago without clothing. My more modest friend from SanDiego kept her bikini bottom on. There were no complainers in the audience and no gaukers. It was all very natural. Fun times.
Luv it, your account, and many thanks
Guessing what the sharks see at a “homo nude beach” - they probably lose their appetite real quick like.
We took that ride at Universal also. It was kind of scary. 😉
Thanks for the info! I was on my way to work, and I was laughing so hard I had to pull over!
