After all the persecution this man has undergone? An “air of arrogance?” Really?

I meant boycotting the thing all together. “Kangaroo court” is right.

If he skips the debate, he should be prepared to lose in Iowa. (Keep in mind that one month before the Iowa caucuses, Trump will be on trial in FL for the classified documents case).

Next up would be New Hampshire. Sununu is a popular governor there, and is no friend of Trump. Trump could be 0 for 2 at that point, with DeSantis building ahead of steam and lots of free media.

In March, Trump will be on trial over giving hush money to the porn actress. Not a good look heading into Super Tuesday.

"He should, instead, propose Tucker Carlson as the moderator."

Tucker Carlson just held a forum for all the major GOP contenders. Trump didn't show up.

Tucker asks hardball questions and Trump wanted no part of that.

his supporters primarily blame the GOP for the problems.

Keep in mind, Trump supporters only make up about half of the GOP and about 20% of the voting public at large and while they may make excuses for all of Trump's shortcomings, the rest of the voting public does not.

“Keep in mind, Trump supporters only make up about half of the GOP”

I think it’s more, but in any case, we’ll find out.

Also, I don’t think it’s wise to participate in a debate with hostile moderators, as you can get the Bernie Treatment, where the questions were handed to Skunk Cabbage prior to the debate.

Trump should do like he has done in the past and hold a giant rally in a red state on the night of the debate.

The other 12 aren’t even to be considered as back benchers. They are barely the towel boys in the locker room.
There is no good reason to dignify their presence with a forum attended by the only viable candidate in the race.

If Trump is up to being POTUS, then is should be up to debating fellow Republicans.
I voted for him twice, and gave him money. If he’s the candidate, I’ll vote for him again. But he is my last choice to be the candidate.

And that record is:

Good: SCOTUS, foreign policy (lots of wins I don’t think he gets credit for), “owned the libs”, built some border wall

Bad: Less deportations than Obama, didn’t repeal DACA and deport Dreamers, didn’t pardon Snowden/Assange, elevated Fauci to the national stage instead of firing him, hired Chris Wray at FBI and didn’t clean up the DOJ

It’s a mixed bag. I want to see a debate. If Trump can defend his record and DeSantis/Vivek (the other candidates aren’t relevant) cannot put a compelling case, I’ll consider him more. But there’s enough question marks that I want to see a debate, not least of which on the issue of can Trump actually win in 2024.

I assume I will be called a “deep state paid shill” for wanting to see my elected officials present a case on why I should vote for them, but such is life. I will manage. Sticks and stones. To be clear, so there is no confusion, I am not loyal to Trump. Let me repeat that for those in the back. I. Am. Not. Loyal. To. Trump. I am loyal to my family and my faith, that’s it. If he earns my vote, great, but my vote is not a handout.
