there are a few, but not very many. Most are speed limited whereas my Caddy isn’t, it will go 200+mph the way it sits.
Don’t remember Pontiac. Too young at the time.
Pontiac, (born c. 1720, on the Maumee River [now in Ohio, U.S.]—died April 20, 1769, near the Mississippi River [at present-day Cahokia, Ill.]),
(Did have a ‘64 Grand Prix)
All these cars will be getting less and less.
The federal government is pushing EVs and that means they will regulate these high performance gassoline vehicles out of existence.
I like the yellow splitter guards.
AKA 'Crotch Rockets'.......................
AKA "Donor Cycles".
Rice Burners....
Nothing like cruising main street in a GTO with the big 89 WLS cranked up to 11 and hearing the wide trackin’ jingle come on:
Unfortunately, I didn’t have a GTO - but I did groove to the commercial for it!
Will be the last time you can get the 6.6 liter. What’s that a 392 that’s supercharged. I am guessing they will make the 5.7 package that’s really good drive train. I have a 2007 RT charger with 190k miles and still running great. Keep it seviced. And they will make the V6. But the next big boy will be the 440 with a 6 pack or something. Been waiting for them to bring back the 440 motor. I doubt dodge will quit making the muscle cars. I see to many big boys in the road. 2024 maybe the 440 7.2 liter monster. For the right price of course.
Actually a really nice car. I know it’s a grocery getter. But 5.7 motor has some power but is really dependable. Pushing 200k on mine and still running strong. Of course now I posted this it will jinx me. Lol.
“If the Challenger is such a winner, why is it going away?
Because it won’t catch my 2016 Cadillac CTS-V 4 door sedan, and I love my 2 crotch rocket Yamaha RZ500’s”
I always laugh during my commute. They are always chasing Teslas in a vain attempt to prove they are the fastest car on the road. The drivers are so cliche with their baseball caps on backwards and one hand gripping the steering wheel.
The same kids that poo-poo these muscle cars want to tell us how fast their 0-60 EVs are.
As I recall the Trans-Am was downgraded to the 305
Maybe just California
A guy in town had a ‘64 GTO, 3 duces, etc. Interestingly,
his father was a judge. Spoiled rotten comes to mind. A friend had a 396 Camero circa ‘68. His older brother liked Corvettes. The sweetest was a ‘62 fuelie. Felt like getting hit by a freight train when he stood on it. My first new car was a ‘75 Honda CVCC Civic. Cost less than the discounts offered these days. Almost got stuck from carburetor ice on Donner pass.
I'd love to see a business where you could rent some of those older cars, even if it was on a closed setup, just to drive them again.
It could be like an amusement park, complete with a "strip" that included drive-in restaurants, a drive-in theater, and a "car show" to show them all off.
There's something about the rumble of an Olds Gold Rocket engine, the feel of a floor shifter, and the moan of a 4 barrel carburetor.
There’s a recent YouTube dashcam video of a sheriff down south responding to a car chase in one of these doing 160 mph on backroads. While impressive to watch that behavior is insanely dangerous to the officer and to the public. This kind of bull**** will continue until a mother and her kids are killed by a speeding (to put it mildly) cop in a race car. Then everyone will stand around looking sad and trying to justify their unjustifiable behavior.
Hard pass for me...not interested in garbage Chrysler products. If it was manufactured after 1969, I’ll leave it.
Yes, that’s exactly the legacy—this is now a major douchebag/feral car.
Actually a really nice car. I know it’s a grocery getter. But 5.7 motor has some power but is really dependable. Pushing 200k on mine and still running strong. Of course now I posted this it will jinx me. Lol.
“And my last car in high school was my 396 Impala with Julie D sitting so close to me (bench seat front) she was almost in my lap.”
Did you have a necking knob on the steering wheel?
