SMDH."
I had to search what SMDH meant. "Shaking my damn head...."
She commented on: " 'An interesting suggestion I saw says the Ukrainians can open the cluster shells and send the individual bomblets via drone to drop directly into occupied trenches or on top of tanks carrying infantry riding on top," with "Wow! Innovation at its best!"
This is what passes for ordained Methodist thinking here on this daily thread which daily and over months begins with the monetized YouTube channel of a supposedly adult male Ukrainian pilot who apparently isn't flying for the Ukraine military but rather has the time each day to make a nice, long video for Patreon subscribers and more. And you can buy his "merch" because that is better than his actually fighting for Ukraine....
As you say, "Never thought I'd see the day on FR when human beings being killed was glorified and celebrated like it is on these Ukraine threads."
This daily thread comes down to "Killing Russian soldiers is somehow God's "innovative" will." In an officially non-NATO war with the blessings of the Democrat administration. This is really become an Institute for the Study of War outreach, wrapped in blue and yellow prayer because God supports the Ukraine which funneled massive amounts of money to the princelings of Biden, Pelosi, Kerry and friends of Romney long before the war broke out, and the current Resident in the White House had leveraged a previous Ukraine government to stop corruption investigations by leveraging a billion USD in aid against firing an investigator.
“Shaking my damn head....”
1st. No, I do not believe your head has not been damned.
2nd. I did comment on the suggestion that the Ukrainians might be able to open the cluster shells and send the individual bomblets via drone.
3rd. When weapons are running low such innovation will be a positive!
SIDEBAR: Reminds me of the need when desperate times call for desperate measures. Chaplain Howell Forgy was aboard the USS New Orleans at the time of the Pearl Harbor attack. The officer in charge of the ammunition line on the USS New Orleans reported that he heard the phrase during the attack.
He turned around when he saw Chaplain Forgy walking towards him through the line of scared men. The chaplain patting him on the back and said the famous sentence: “Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition”. The officer reported the immediate effect on the man and himself feeling comforted and prepared.
LEGEND: When Pearl Harbor was hit in a surprise attack at dawn, in 1941, the scattered American forces were pinned down by the charging Japanese Zero planes. During the attack, it is said one army chaplain was among the defenders who were returning small-arms and machine gun fire on the oncoming fighters.
In the heat of the battle, he was asked by the men to say a prayer for them, as they were afraid that those were the last moments of their lives.
It is said that the chaplain lay down his Bible, manned one of the machine guns and shouted: “Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition”. This gesture boosted the morale of the soldiers and they continued the defense of the harbor.
BTW, after the war, Forgy made an appearance on “I’ve got a secret”, where he recalled and told the entire event:
“Well, I was stationed aboard the USS New Orleans, and we were tied up at 1010 dock in Pearl Harbor when we attacked again. We were having a turbine lifted, and all of our electrical power wasn’t on, and so when we went to lift the ammunition by the hoist, we had to form lines of men — form a bucket brigade — and we began to carry the ammunition up through the quarterdeck into the gurneys.
I stood there and directed some of the boys down the port side and some down the starboard side, and as they were getting a little tired, I just happened to say, “Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.”
Ukrainians care little about U.S. domestic political disputes or some U.S. persons concentration on international “intrigues” they know did not trigger and are not reasons or valid excuses for Putin’s war, a war Putin chose, a war nothing essential to the terrirtorial integrity of Russia required Putin to start.
Ukrainians know neither George Soros, NATO or the stupid WEF started Putins war and are not responsible or valid excuses for Putin starting his war.
It is not “Biden’s” war either. Trump also supported arms to Urkaine when he wwas President for the same reasons such support is done now - for Ukraine to defend itself. If WWII had started with a Dim President and then during the war shifted to a GOP President (let’s say President X), would the Dims have gotten away with calling it “President X’s war”. No. Calling it Biden’s war does not make it so.
If the Trump administration had been in power when Putin desired to start his war, Trump’s efforts to prevent Putin’s actions would NOT have been to abandon Ukraine but, unlike Biden, to make aure that an invastion by Putin would INSURE the exapansion of NATO Putin thinks he fears.
Now, that not having been the case we have, because we have Biden, only makes it “Biden’s war, because he failed to act boldly and strongly enough, as Trump would have done, to convince Putin not to do it. It is not “Biden’s war” as you would suggest just because the U.S continues to support Ukriane while Biden is in office.
I don’t think Ukaainians or most supporters of Ukraine think the defense of Ukriane is a “Godly” mission, no matter how many non-Ukrainians, like some in the U.S., may thinks so. To Ukrainians it an exsitential threat to their independent existence as a nation. That is what they defend and have a right to defend. Others motives are irrelevant and your reliance on others motives shows you just hunting for excusexs to defend an unnecesary Putin invasion. Quit wasting your time on such things. They are irrelevant to the people of Ukraine.
BS
These ppl whose deaths are being cheered are sons and daughters, husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers. We just lost our 41 year old son last month and the devastation left behind is heartbreaking. I want this war to be over tomorrow so no more families have to suffer a loss like we did.
And for that I’m called derogatory names by the neocons here.
