Our Friends frequently write here about the loss of their dogs. I hope I’ve been sufficiently sympathetic as I’ve seen the loss of my own Lucy approaching.
Now Lucy is gone after 14 years, and the pain is overwhelming to us.
There are so-called experts who suggest that dogs don’t have the emotional capacity to be genuinely attached to people; that they have only a conditioned response to being fed and treated well. I think this is nonsense. Our dogs obviously have genuine emotional attachment to us. My Lucy wanted to be best friends with everyone she met because. She loved us, and we loved her. Rest is peace, sweet girl.

So sorry for your loss my friend. They ARE as much family as any two legged are.
Always heart wrenching to lose a family member, even if it isn’t a human member.
I’m sorry for your loss.
Rips my heart out when they pass.
BTW, so sorry for your loss. I know how it hurts.
Sorry for your loss.
No need to explain to any of us who have felt the pain of losing a beloved dog.
In the same boat.
Lost best friend Lillian a couple months ago.
Big part of the family dynamics gone.
We have had four wonderful dachshunds through our lives. Every day I think of each one and miss them more than I can express. I understand your pain, it is overwhelming. Heartfelt prayers for you.
Deepest heartfelt condolences on the loss of your family member.
Dogs do indeed feel love to the people they live with, it’s clearly evident to anyone who’s ever owned one.
When they are treated with love and kindness, and are considered a member of the family, they return that love and loyalty tenfold.
If they are treated as an animal to be abused, they react accordingly, just as you or I would do.
Hopefully you can find another family member who could never replace your Lucy, but could become another happy chapter in your family’s life story.
Losing a pet is losing a family member. God bless.
May you find peace and strength following the passing of your dear Lucy. Losing a fur baby is painful. Condolences offered during your grief.
Condolences.
My condolences to you. We lost our faithful Nikko three weeks ago. I miss him every day.
I’ve had dogs since I was 5. The absolute worse days in my life are the days when I’ve had to euthanize one of my dogs.
I believe I will see them all again in Heaven.

The fidelity of a dog is a precious gift demanding no less binding moral responsibilities than the friendship of a human being. The bond with a dog is as lasting as the ties of this earth can ever be. -Konrad Lorenz
Heartfelt sympathies for your loss.
Still dealing with the loss of “Bruiser” (Lhasa Apso) who was 16 years old. And his 1/2 brother Willis who died a few months before also a Lhasa Apso 16 years old.
We had 7 Lhasa Apsos at the same time. Sassy, Willie, Brownie, Sweetie, Corky, Willis, and Bruiser. One by one their time came and we had to say goodbye.
We loved each and every one of them as much as children. (More). Dogs give unconditional love and don’t stiff you for the rent or do drugs.
I believe there is a place in heaven for our pets. I have no evidence, but I CHOOSE to believe so.
I choose to believe they are happy, frolicking about with each other or just sleeping as they mostly did on earth. Happiness and contentment for all eternity, until we meet up with them again.
Sorry for your loss. My boy Shorty wondered in and lived
with me for 12 years. He’s been gone now for three and
some times I can still feel him sleeping against my back.
It makes me feel so good.
Good boy Shorty, good boy.
See ya soon.
