All six passengers aboard a small plane were killed in a fiery crash in Southern California early Saturday, marking the second deadly air wreck in the area this week.

Heavy fog blanketed the area, which may have caused the plane to miss the runway and land in the field several hundred yards away, reported KTLA.

“The airplane crashed short of French Valley Airport during its second approach around 4:15 a.m.,” a spokesperson for the National Transportation Safety Board told the outlet.

Yeah, well I'm a commercial pilot of the past 40 years plus. What the elitists, bureaucrats, and politicians, have done to commercial air travel among common air carriers is criminal. By design, the common airline carrier is now the bottom of a tiered system of air travel.

Part 135 operations are not required to operate in the same insane TSA controlled processes the public is. The private elites carry their guns, security, drugs, etc... with absolute impunity. It's disgusting.

I’ve watched the mains of many an airplane at 2 to 4 AM hang below the deck at 200 feet and still have to do a go-around to an alternate. Even though we could see the mains on the ILS approach, they had to call MAP. That late night dead air deck can be really low and thick. A little bit of sunrise starts lifting it up fast. RVR can be miles, but not 200 feet above.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned the approach facilities and the related minimums.

Look at the approach plate...3000 RVR (viability) required.

If it was foggy, it is not likely there was 3000 RVR.

It would help to know what the toxicology report will discover.

Looking at the approach plate, I would never have shot an approach there unless I had circling minimums and daylight.

With the number of movements there, it is a sin that there is no ILS complete with high intensity approach lights and an automated weather broadcast.

I have landed at night in fog. However, the airport WAS NOT below minimums. If it were below minimums I would have went to my alternate.

No that is where the 80 something year old company CEO lives. The airplane did most of it’s flying on the West coast. Las Vegas in this case, KLAS.
