Lost power at 2am due to thunderstorms. We're running the generator but there's no way to cook or at least it would take some effort so this is breakfast. First tomato of the season in mid July which means I need to start the season earlier.

Red Deuce hybrid plants I got from the Amish store. It's an all purpose style and used as a commercial variety so it has a pretty thick skin and isn't the most flavorful but it's not tasteless at least like some store bought ones. Kind of a fruity flavor.

First cluster of Chadwick Cherry heirloom maters are starting to turn color. Hopefully last night's rain won't have them splitting today. MU Ag Research Station up the road recorded 1,45" of rain overnight.

I have a Coleman camp stove and adapter hose to run it off a 20 lb cylinder so I could fry up some bacon and eggs. Everything else is electric and most things are too much for running off a portable gennie via extension cord. Even the little air fryer is 1,500 watts, just like a space heater. Our low power microwave would run but I don't feel like moving it or digging out another ext cord. Coffee maker works which is the important thing.(650 watts) Phone/DSL run underground so they work.

The Dollar General near me lost all their refrigerated/frozen food a little over a week ago due to power outtage. They just got it restocked but they likely have no power like me so they're going to lose it all again. And of course my plans for the day require electricity.

I need to buy some golf cart batteries and a new charge controller and get my solar panels up and running again. I hate running the gennie just for phone/internet.

Jealous! I’ve had exactly THREE cherry-type tomatoes to eat so far! (Valentine)

Glad your power came back on! We got a LOVELY FULL INCH OF RAIN on Wednesday, and then 1/8” last night. This will be the FIRST week in about TEN that I won’t have to water my fruit trees.

Counting my blessings today, for sure! :)

I’m stoked this year isn’t turning out like last year with 100 degree temps for weeks on end. Can’t wait to taste some. Cherokee Purple, Black Cherry, Brandywine. Grew Brandywine last year but didn’t get a decent one.
